We grieve, yet we pour our hearts out to the Lord, and He hears and answers us. There isn't much anyone can say that will help you right now, I know that, we've pretty much all been there. Look back over the last few weeks with Tim, what did he say or do that you could take from it? You're right, those last weeks had a purpose. Maybe the purpose wasn't for him but for you and others around him.

Sluggun:

It almost seems like there was somewhat of an answer to your questions later in your post:

"On a positive note, we got almost three weeks with him while he was laid up from the motorcycle accident to spend with him that otherwise we wouldn't have because he would have been in Auburn working. We got to show him how much we loved him by caring for his wounds and talking and spending time with him."

Had your son been taken in most of the scenarios that you mentioned, you may not have been able to have those last few weeks to spend countless hours with him pouring your love and special care into him.

How I wish that your son were still with you, healthy and whole, and that your posts were just the everyday banter. Unfortunately, that's obviously not the case.

I hope that your son's life and the impact that he made on others will live forever and grow ever stronger. I also hope that your son's untimely death will catapult the efforts from those far and near to bring an end to the animalistic ways of not only your home county, but wherever these lawless acts are committed and overlooked.

May the memory of your son be forever blessed.

I, among many others here, am praying for, and thinking of you and your family.

My mind is taken to Philippians 4:4-7

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Maybe God just set all of that in order so that you could be with him in those moments. I'm sure your son never once doubted how much you and his mom and other family loved him.

My friend died in a dirt bike accident at 18 years old. 1 month after graduation. He and his dad had a strained relationship for a couple of years, but his dad told me that the 2 weeks leading up to his accident, they reconnected and had the best 2 weeks they've had in years. His dad echoed your thoughts, as to the timing. "We finally worked these things out and now he's gone". I really didn't have much to offer. But looking back, I'm glad they worked it out and glad of the timing. Had he died while they were strained, I don't think his dad would've ever forgiven himself, even though most of the strain was caused by my friend and not his dad. The Lord's ways are far above ours. We have to trust what he allows to happen. I have no idea how bad you are hurting. Not even going to pretend.

Who knows what tomorrow holds for any of us.

Continued prayers for sluggun and family.

There are no comforting words that can take away your pain. I wish there were. My experience with lost loved ones has not given me any consoling words. I lost two of my siblings one in a farm accident. The other in a automobile accident. It mellowed my father and my mother lost her mind so much so that the rest of us raised ourselves. It is my sincere hope you maintain your sanity. This post is not about me or my loss. I want you to be alright. I know if this was old west days You would have already avenged your son. It is not so you can't. The Lord loves you it may not seem that way now. The Lord loves you.

Still praying for you brother. Sounds like God is really revealing a lot to you. I think you’re right about the change that needs to take place. Your son’s death will not be in vain. Just as Stephen’s death was not in vain when Saul (Paul) had him murdered.

I once heard it said that our life on earth is like looking at the back of a tapestry. It can appear like there is no rhyme or reason but one day when we’re in heaven we will be able to see the front of the tapestry and it’ll all make perfect sense. I’ll continue to keep your family in my prayers sluggun.
