Ok let me be more specific. What about the Mustangs and Camaros 2009 - present.

I have a 2010 Camaro RS. It's quick, fun to drive, reliable and like said before, comfortable.

An early 80s 2 door malibu is on my short list... A G body regal or cutlass would work too

The GTX with the Hemi option was a road warrior that was stock about a 4.5 second 0-60mph car.

I’d have to go with a newish 5.0 mustang or challenger.

I'm still old school I guess. I love the old cars and a little oil and gas smell every now and then. I drive my 72 Cheyenne Super at least 3 or 4 days a week and there ain't nothing like that 454 popping off inside the shop. I can't wait till my 69 step side is done, hopefully this summer. Now it's gonna be a bad boy.

I have plenty of old stuff that requires frequent maintenance.
I ain't going to buy something else (on purpose) to work on. 😉

Old muscle cars look great, sound awesome and are just cool in general. New stuff is obviously a better ride and handling and reliability.

My bucket list car is this:

1968 Camaro SS, blue, convertible, white racing stipes.

Like this one below...that one has been restored with an LS swap and all the other modern upgrades.

My Mom had both a 1976 L48 and a 1978 L82 Silver Anniversary Edition. They were both pieces of chit. I think the 1976 had about 175hp from the factory. It was pathetic. It was a rattle trap. Pure junk.

To me the sweet spot in a Corvette right now are the C6 Vette's. I missed out an a nice white one with the saddle leather interior for $15k a few months ago.. In my opinion they are the best looking Corvettes ever made and with great performance too, and the interiors aren't too shabby either. The C7 Vettte's are hideous. The C5's were too bloated looking. The C4's are junk. As mentioned the C3's were junk too, but at least the early ones with the chrome bumpers front and rear were good looking. The Stingrays ere a good looking bunch, but I've never owned one or driven one so I can't speak to how they drove or handled. The 1957 Vette's were particularly good looking too.

If I buy one, which I may do now that the cabin is getting finished, it will be a C6. Preferably a white fastback with a tan interior and a 6 speed manual.

The 77 they own is a fine machine, and it hasn't been stock for years, it has a built 383 stroker now, and they had a 93 (which would be a C4) and it was far from what i would call junk, but opinions are like azzholes 😁

I drove both of those extensively (The 1977 & 1978) and honestly they weren't well put together cars by any stretch of the imagination. Squeaks, rattles, super flexible chassis, it rode like an ox cart, crashed over bumps, etc... I'm not attacking your parent's car, it's just my personal observation on the 1970's Vettes.

There was actually a well documented incident with GM and Road and Track where GM sent a (I believe 1968) Corvette to Road and Track for testing and evaluation and it was so bad that R&T sent it back to GM. (I heard that story on Barrett-Jackson one time. One of the commentators was a former R&T journalist.)

I stand by the comments and I still think the best Vette for the money right now are the C6 models.

‘61 convertible ‘vette ....baby blue with white insets, white rag top and white leather interior

was my first car (sister couldn’t drive it so it sat in the garage for 8 years waiting on me) and Dad had to sell it for land taxes on land that was lost the next year. sold it to a refurb/reseller, so i’ll most likely never see that car, again...rode off from the church in it when we got married

experience is a freakin' awesome teacher....

Sure we all (Me included...) have anecdotal "evidence" (personal stories of a friend of a friend) but the facts are:

Muscle Cars were slow by today's standards...

Yep, there probably ain't a stock "muscle car" from the 60's or 70's that could hang with that v6 Taurus SHO in the other thread.

I drove several muscle cars when I was young. I had a cuda, a 442, buick wildcat and a firebird. My 2018 GMC truck would leave everyone of them in the dust from the factory and it rides and handles better too. Plus, they were constantly in need of work. I learned very early on that it might be fun to work on cars as a hobby, but it sucks when you are doing it on Sunday night so you can get to work or school the next day.

a 442 will do about 6 seconds 0-60. Your truck might hang but I don't know about leave it in the dust. That's quite a stretch of the imagination.

There were plenty of muscle cars that would run under 5 seconds 0-60 if not stock with very minor and inexpensive work. That's good by any standard. Especially when considering a car made of metal not plastic.

All fun and games until all but excluding a wildly built street car or actual drag car get demolished by Elon Mustards golf cart in a 1/4 mile.

Not all the old cars were slow by today’s standards at all. I had an LS6 Chevelle that ran 8:40 in the quarter and was plenty fast enough on the top end to outrun most new cars of trucks including any stock camero or mustang.

Surely you mean the 1/8th mile.
