We are going to be at the beach in two weeks. What can be caughtbof the pier this time of year? Going to take my boy and try to let him catch something.

Use a 2 hook drop rig with a pyramid sinker of about 2 ozs. Fish between the 2 Sandbars at daylight and dusk with FRESH PEELED shrimp or live sandfleas. Pompano, Whiting should be around with the occasional Flounder and Redfish.

You devein them too?

I would rather have the fresh peeled shrimp than the whiting!

I was there the last week of April. I'm certainly not the guy to give advice about saltwater fishing, but I was told that just a few days before I was there ,the fishing was pretty good for Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Pompano, whiting and even King Mackerel. There were a few Sheepshead and even a Trigger or two caught. In the seven or eight hours I fished on the pier, I only saw a handful of fish of any kind caught. I guess I was there on the wrong day with the wrong tides, and holding my mouth wrong. I think most of the locals left out way before I gave up.

I'm a relative greenhorn for saltwater fishing, but even I usually do way better than that. I caught a real good mess of Spanish and Trout last September at Gulf Shores.

I love pier fishing. Gulf Shores pier has a great forum. I bet PC has one too.
I been wondering if you could cast and drag a Ned rig off the pier and in the bays and catch fish.

They have been killing the king mackerel at the PC county pier.

Good news about Kings in PCB. Trying to get down this week. Love the Kings.

Most of them were pretty good size. One -38lbs. Yesterday they tore the pompano up.

I enjoy catching kings but no thanks on eating them.

I like to go down and catch kings and spanish during the day and then wade around with the bow at night and put a mess of flounder in the cooler.

I will be there the first week of June. If that is the same week you are there, let me know and I can help you out. The only reason I go to the beach is to fish, and I have been fishing both the city and county piers in PCB for a long time.
