Those look good. About what does it cost material wise to pour them, not including the pot, molds and other tools?

Was wondering the same,

Is it to save money? Or just for fun/hobby?

They look good thumbup. Unless you use a ton of jigs or want something that’s not really offered over the counter for the startup cost you can fish for several years buying jigs versus pouring.

Dang I hate to hear that. I've heard Lee's customer service was really good so let us know how that goes....

What size are they?

We will burn that bridge when we get there

My Lee pot element went out also and I switched to an older hot pot style and like it better especially if I am pouring larger heads or weights. You just have to be careful and not pour your hand full of lead. It hurts!

Exactly .046 ea. That includes powder coating. Roughly, I'm saving between .010 and .015ea by making them. I paid a total of $163.80 for the production pot, 5lbs of lead, 1000 hooks, mold and 4oz of powder coat. Think about that. RIGHT NOW, it's costing me a total of .1638 per hook on this 1st thousand heads. That's right at or slightly cheaper than what you could buy that many 1/16oz painted heads. I'm doing it for fun, but it pays for itself quickly if you fish a lot.

It pays off when you make the jigs i use for striper fishing. 3/4 oz style 9 shad heads. I haven’t bought one in years but i wouldn’t hesitate to say they are .50 a piece, maybe more. I haven’t ever bought an ounce of lead and i have a 5 gallon bucket full that isn’t poured into jigs and weights. Heck, last year i picked up at least 80 lbs of wheel weights out of the road one day. I guess someone was headed to the scrapyard and they fell off the truck.

Yeah cmon. Daniel White

Thing I like about pouring my own is getting the hooks I want also make mine with a wire keeper ,they are hard to find. Make my spinnerbaits so I have the blades I like and wire tie skirts.

Sending the pot back, it's got a 2yr free replacement warranty. After 2 years, they'll refurbish or replace for half price of retail.

If you could sell 'em for what Tony Cooley gets for 'em you'd be rich in no time laugh He does have a select corner of the market sealed up though.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

LOL....all them tackle stores charge an arm and a leg for jig heads. What made me start, was I bought some home brew jig heads from GTO. Got home, opened the pack and they looked liked a blind, one finger retard poured them.

You gotta be talking about the plastic shad grin

What made me start was not being able to buy 32nd's with a #2 hook unless I ordered them.

IDOT hit a couple of scrap yards and buy their "clean" lead. I bought 110lbs for 50 cents per pound. I spent about 4 hours one rainy Saturday afternoon melting it down, cleaning it and pouring into a muffin tin. I now have a little over 90 lbs of good clean lead. Don't use tire weights for small jig heads.

One tip on pouring..... Put the spout on the pot completely down into the "funnel" cut into the mold when you pour. It pressure pours the lead. I don't have too many problems with incomplete pours on 1/16ths but 32's were and issue until I started pouring that way.
