I posted the same question yesterday. No replies. I don't know how you'd even find out. I'm going to Portland Landing next week and just curious what went down last weekend.

Call the biologist that sent you the email with your hunt info.

I'm at cedar Creek next weekend. Haven't heard anything, but I'll be there either way.

We hunted section 3 and 4 at Cedar Creek last weekend, killed a nice bird on Friday morning. Tried to get it in front of my Brother in law but he circled and I killed him. Heard birds every morning, got close on 2 other birds....... section 2 was not being hunted and was loaded with gobnling birds on Sunday morning

I'm curious. Their website mentions habitat management, including control burns. Have they done any burns over the last couple of years? Can you hunt all day on the first two days of the hunt, or do they cut you off at 1:00 like they do on the WMA's?

Thanks

You can hunt all day, we did not but later in the season may be worth it. I did not see any burned areas but we didn't explore, just went to our hunting area. The areas are really well marked so it is almost impossible to get off your area

So a buddy and I will be down there (cedar creek) this weekend. How is the road system? Do we need to bring a sxs or is a 4wd good enough? Thanks

Well, I was headed to Uchee Creek this weekend before my daughter decided the beauty pageant on Saturday was a good idea

trucks are not allowed on the roads but carts, ATV's, and SxS are allowed.

The biologist told me there were no birds killed on Portland Landing the first weekend although plenty of birds were heard and a few came close to closing the deal but couldn't get it done. The weather looks kinda iffy this weekend.

May need to rethink that or may some arrangements if you haven't already. Check your email and the regs but I think I read that if you don't cancel within 7 days and don't show, you will not be eligible for one year for future SOA hunts. And your hunt is non-transferrable so you can't pick who can take your spot.

I just read my regs and it says that you are encouraged to use ATV, ect on you section, especially if the roads are wet. Maybe you can use a truck. That's something I guess they will address at the pre-hunt meeting. You can park truck at the kiosk at your section and use the ATV or whatever in your section. My hunt starts at daylight on Friday the 5th and I can hunt until noon Sunday the 7th.

10.4, Yeah I don't mind bringing my ranger , but my truck is quieter. Also I feel bad for the guys that do draw that maybe don't have access to a sxs.
