I know where it is but never hunted right there. I do know several people who were and may still be members there.

I hunted with them for a couple of years when they were leasing Portland Landing.

I hunt right down the road a couple times a year. My best friend grew up hunting there. There used to be a big group from Jasper involved with that club (Myers, Turners, O’Rears and Fuller) Benny Fuller is a turkey killing machine.

That the same clan of O'Rears in Jasper that Ray O'Rear belongs to?

Remember it very well!! Loved that place! My grandfather was one of the charter members. I could go on and on about my memories down there but I really dont have time lol before I head to work this morning. It's still a club, but with no where near as much property as they once had. I had a chance to rejoin about a year or so ago, but I stay too busy to head off that far away from the house, right now anyway.

Isn't that the place that Charlie Duckett more or less managed?

I know he was down there and I remember meeting him, but I don't remember exactly what he did besides hunt down there.

Did Charlie Duckett work for Dennis Adams? Or is he the one that had the wife and they ran that hunting club like it was their own private place? Maybe that was Riverdale I'm thinking of?? I have some friends that have land that butts up to all of that.

I am a member of elm bluff .Charlie worked in some capacity for Dennis Adams when he bought the property .I don't think that is the case now but I am not sure .A few of us have a small portion of the original property

I was a member for many years before it was sold and split up. I haven’t hunted another place since that had that much hard wood on it. Now everything is in pine. Charlie was a member and knew the property very well. He is a great guy.

Miller had some jam up good holdings during those years. My father worked for them for a period of time and they allowed employees to hunt a 1,000 acre tract near Jefferson on the backwaters of the Tombigbee that was loaded with deer.

Yes, Charlie and his wife Doris are great people. They lived very close to the hunting club so he kept an eye on it. I know he knew the property well but didn’t know if he had some type of management role in it or was just a member.

He retired from teaching and I think Doris is now retired also.
