lied like a dog for the first 15 minutes, stuck to "her daddy dropped her off on the side of the road" story.
She was already grounded for lying straight to her mothers face repeatably.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Fred, if y'all have not already done so, I'd check with her teacher to make sure there's not something going on at school you're not aware of. We had an issue with GomerJr (7yrs old) a few months ago....started back-talking bad at home and just generally being a little schitt, which is VERY unlike him. Couldn't get any info out of him. Long story short, talked to his teacher. She said she'd noticed similar from him recently. Said he'd been "hanging out" with a kid at school that has a reputation for that kind of behavior. She had been encouraging the 2 of them to hang out more, hoping that GomerJr would be a good influence on the kid, but unfortunately it worked the opposite way. She has since made a point of keeping them separated and the problem resolved itself almost immediately.

she probably just ventured out and when questioned. Blamed the bad guy "daddy". I imagine the daddy is a liar as well. I wouldnt read to much into. Kids do stupid stuff, especially in a single parent house hold. Luckily she has someone like you in her life, thats gonna help a bunch.

time frame was fast....
she was outside playing near me when I came inside. Within maybe 10 minutes wife couldn't find her. Looked at her trailer, then got me so maybe 20 more. Add five and she is back at the gate with the police.
I talked to some more folks involved today. Seems she ran out into the road and flagged the man down, told him she had been left by her daddy two days ago. He took her to store up the road 2.5 miles and had already called the police who met him there. One of the police was the school resource officer and recognized her and knew where I lived. It all happened pretty fast....and all the right folks were involved.
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

Glad she is safe and back home! I can only imagine how stressful that must have been.
If through your course of figuring out what, if anything, significant is going on and there is something that she may need help dealing with....I'd encourage you and her mother to go meet with a child counselor at Pathways. They are affiliated with Alabama Baptist Children's Home and specialize in child therapy and trauma. They are fantastic as we've seen several counselors in the past with our foster children. There office is off Old Rocky Ridge Road...going through a remodel now so in temporary space at Lorna and Rocky Ridge currently.
