Years ago I worked nights and fell into the same machines and takeout trap. The belt was tightening up fast! Finally smartened up and started taking my own food and drink. The lbs fell off in no time and I found myself really enjoying having decent food at my disposal. A good sandwich, some pretzels and a couple apples beats the hell out of a double cheeseburger, fries and a coke.

If you can pick it, pull it, catch it, milk it, shoot it then eat it. Eat clean and walk at least 10,000 steps a day and drink water.

I don't think that exercise can overcome a bad eating choices. But, good eating choices can cause you to lose some even without exercise. So, if you can incorporate both, then you should see a change. But, yes, it is sometimes way easier said than done. But, changing the overly processed foods for those natural ones (clean) is a good place to start. The other issue some people have is that eating cleaner and healthier is more expensive than all the overly processed things that are not good for you.

I lost 50 lbs with the intermittent fasting. Eat healthy when you can, bit mostly only eat inside of a window. Some days I ate 2 smaller meals from 12-6. Other days I only ate one big meal.

Keto with intermittent fasting, only eating for a 8 hour period throughout each day. I’m 8 weeks in and have lost 40 lbs. A good friend of mine was on it last year and lost over 100. It’s by far the most effective, just do some research on it and start meal prepping.

You can’t out work a bad diet, period. If you want to do a true diet, try keto or intermittent fasting.

Meal prepping so that you don’t have to buy fast food or out of machines would help a lot. Cutting sugar is huge!

Don't worry about calling it a "diet". Just change what you eat.

Cut out carbs, pasta, bread, sugar drinks, biscuits, fried food. Eat veggies, cheese, meats. Without insulin spikes from constantly eating carbs you won't have a constant cycle of hunger.

As said by others, you lose weight in the kitchen, not in the gym.

Diets are just another hoax. Its all about burning what you put in. If you eat like a horse, then dont burn it off you will be a fatass. Try and make healthier eating choices, eat a salad with grilled chicken instead of a burger with fries. Try and eat good carbs, brown rice, whole grain rice/pasta. Carbs are essential to fuel the body. Go look at Dewayne Johnson (aka the ROCK). He consumes a ridiculous amount of calories a day, but is very much in shape. It all about the exercise. Ive just got back on my routine in the last few weeks. I put on about 15-20 pounds when my wife got pregnant with our daughter. Try downloading the My Fitness Pal app and track your calories.

Good advice. My wife was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Cutting out all white foods such as bread, potatoes and rice has helped her shed 20 pounds in 4 months.

Probably the best advice and avoid empty calories.

Some of you guys have lost some serious weight. I'm not huge but im 20+ lbs heavier than I was about 5yrs ago. I think i can quit the soft drinks and fried stuff and maybe get a good start towards a new life style. I've always had a high metabolism and have eat and drank whatever I wanted. Now that I have some years on me and work crazy hours, I'm realizing I can't do all of that anymore. I'm reading up on that keto diet right now.

You can lose weight without any exercise. All you have to do is eat 500 less calories per day. Figure out what your 'maintenance' calories are (the amount of calories consumed to stay at your current weight) and eat 500 less calories. Add in exercise, even better. The only reason this simple concept hasn't caught on, is because you will only lose about a pound per week. Most people want to lose a ton of weight fast. When you lose weight too fast, you are going to feel like crap, simple as that. So then you will stop dieting all together and go back to putting on weight. By eating 500 less calories, its easy to be consistent and keep losing weight. So just keep it simple, do a quick calorie count of what your normal day of eating is like and subtract 500 calories from that.

Getting in shape is super simple. Human beings make it complicated, in order to set themselves up for failure, because, I believe, subconsciously they really don't want to succeed. Then hucksters step in with pills, creams, potions, crazy diet plans and silly abdominizers... To try to make it simple for us again, but all they really accomplish is separating you from your money.

Here's the thing:

1. Consume less calories than you burn. (There are many calculators online to figure out you Basal Metabolic Rate and many easy ways to keep up with your calorie intake.)
2. If you want to maintain or increase your muscle mass and not be skinny flabby, then throw in some basic strength training a few times a week.
3. If you want to maintain your cardio-vascular fitness (Which is important.) throw in about 15-20 minutes of cardio about 3 times a week.
