What's a typical/reasonable wait time for a processor? And maybe I should also ask what's the longest you've waited and still actually still got your meat? I'm at five weeks today. They told me it would be a couple of weeks.

Man...I called at three weeks then again at 4. Both times they assured me they would call and double checked that they have my number right. I don't want to call them so much that they "spit in my food" or whatever the processor version of that is but I was thinking five weeks is extreme. To top it off I'm a little nervous because it's my 2nd buck and I wanted to do a euro mount and at the time I didn't know how easy it is to remove the head so I asked them to please keep the head.

I don't want mine back before two weeks, I want it to hang at least that long. 2-3weeks. 5weeks is a bit too long. I would call them. They probably lost your deer.

Hell no. 2 weeks hang time Max but don't process before 7 day's. I did have one hang 21 days with hide on once though and it was great.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Thanks y'all. I had hesitated to bother them but decided to call again. It sounds like it might not have even been skinned yet...anyway they said it was close to the top of the cutting list so I asked if there's any way I can come get it tomorrow and they said they'd move it to the top of the list and have it done by the afternoon. I'm not typically an anxious person but there's really something about leaving the deer I killed in someone else's hands that brings that out.

Usually two weeks. They may have lost the head

Most processors are getting slammed so expect a wait. One of my employee's son works at Shana's in Shorter. They took in 70 deer last Friday I think it was. I can't imagine what they did Saturday and Sunday.

Well I went there Monday and they sure enough didn't have it ready. But miraculously I did get the head and hide. They said it would be ready for sure Tuesday because it was fourth on the list (pretty sure that's what the guy told me Sunday). I called today and they said it wasn't ready. I basically pleaded with them to figure out what was going on and if at all possible I would like to pick it up Sunday (which would make 6 weeks) and they said they'd try and they would call me back when it's done. They called a couple of hours later and said oops the order sheet had just been turned upside down and it had been in the freezer and was actually already ready to pick up. I went to get the solid frozen meat. I get it home and start unpacking...Turns out my deer had five tenderloins that all look the size of inner loins. And though I ordered all of my ground meat just plain, two of the 1lb bags had fat added. That's pretty suspicious. I'm pretty sure I got a mix of other people's meat. If they had fessed up to losing the tag on the carcass or something i could understand and forgive, but if they did what I think they did without telling me, that's just shady. I would name the place but I don't know 100% that I'm right about the meat. As a business owner myself I don't want to risk hurting their business if I have any doubts...even if I'm pretty sure they acted shady.
