Just curious if anyone is seeing some activity in these two counties. My land is in Montgomery County near the bullock county line. We usually see some pre rut activity this weekend down there with some smaller bucks chasing.

I am in Montgomery County as well and we have killed three bucks in the past 5 days, they were all shadowing doe. With that said, I had one plot that had 13 bucks in it with only one doe and all the deer seemed content to just eat. I think it just depends on the when a specific doe comes in heat, just like a pack of dogs, when they get a sniff of the good stuff, it is on.

1 and 2s started dogging last weekend in my area. And weren't getting lucky.
3s are starting to cruise.
Matures are still lying low.

Had a buddy rattle in a nice 8pt last Friday and kill him with a bow in S Montgomery. The deers tarsals were literally dripping. I heard some chasing and grunting that afternoon in the 8yr old pines behind me but I only saw 2 spikes and 2 does.

My buddies are hunting there now. Smaller bucks scent checking, making scrapes and trailing does. My buddy also heard some grunting but deer never showed. Will update as weekend continues.

I was there Friday through Sunday. Rut seemed to kick in with bigger bucks on Saturday.

Had a nice 8pt killed on our land this morning (Pike Road Area) around 9:30. He wasn’t chasing, but was cruising the swamp and stunk. The younger bucks have been showing signs the past week or so and we are definitely seeing more activity from some of the older bucks during the day, so it seems like it’s starting to heat up. Usually doesn’t kick in good on our property until the week after season ends, but hopefully it’s a little earlier this year.

MLK weekend is normally pretty good to us but this year it was slow. No shooter bucks were seen but lots of younger bucks were pushing/checking does. I don't know if weather was the issue or we just were not in the right spots. Our neighbor did kill a really nice buck on Sunday afternoon that we had pictures of. He was not behind a doe.
