Whose hunted here? Boss taking me on an afternoon hunt before season out. Have heard good things in the past. Looking forward to it either way. Not sure if we will be able to pick our stands or what, never been on a lodge type hunt before
There is 2 different high fence. 1 small and one big! Mine was free range in the big pen and was not a breeder buck. Why does it have to be twisted around??

Been there. Know a lot of guys that used to guide there. They will help you out and put you in a stand. Of course, they will never tell you but they reserve the best stands for who they think will be the biggest tippers. Just go enjoy a day of hunting.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

They don't have much land left so the seat in your stand will probably still be warm. Good luck anyway

Good luck. Wish my boss would pay for me to go hunt some where.

Youngest son won a free hunt there back 5 or 6 years ago, in a drawing or fundraiser auction or something like that, I cant remember which. Nice rustic lodge, good food and good people. The land and deer are what I would consider average at best but I've also got good very places to hunt. Saw deer one day, saw nothing on the second. Nice to meet new people and see new places but not a hunt that I would pay to go on. When we pulled out, son asked me if we could detour over to our place to hunt that afternoon before heading home. Said he wanted to see some bucks and have a chance at a big one if that tells you anything. I had heard the same thing as halfrack, that they dont have near the land they used to, and it is a fraction of the size it used to be. Back in the day, it had a good reputation and a bunch of good land tied up and used for the operation. Dang sure wouldn't turn down a free hunt with good people. Go have fun. It beats working.

Thanks fellas. We actually did some work there last Friday, saw two decent 8’s brought in while we were working. Hate they lost a bunch of land. That area has a lot of potential

I remember years ago when a guide was shot and killed by a hunter there. I grew up not to far from there.

Leroy I bet you know the Holladay's then. I've hunted with them a bunch over the years. The son used to guide at the SS years ago. Fred Holladays? I haven't been there in years. The guy that got killed was a Spivey. Killed on what we called Spivey Hill. The whole area is a fraction of what it use to be. Use to be lots of deer and big deer. Today, not so much for whatever reason.

Spivey is correct. Was told a pay hunter had shot a buck and it ran out the road he walked in on,Spivey came to get him and walked down the same road. Guy thought it Was his buck and shot, turned out it was his guide(Spivey). Thats the story I wastold.

Mr. Spivey was going to pick up the hunter and was wearing coveralls and it was a warmer than it had been day so he unzipped the front showing his white T shirt. The hunter reported that he thought it was the chest patch of a deer. No excuse. If you can't tell what it is, especially through a scoped rifle, it should be a criminal act to shoot.

Another family member too, Spivey Hardy was killed while an Auburn student and pulled his loaded rifle out of a closet and the trigger got caught on something causing a discharge. Spivey was one of my players on a baseball team I coached and was an all American Kid with a bright, bright future. His father used to have business (the good kind) at the PD a lot so we all knew him. He never recovered from that as you would expect.
