You guys shooting those 143 eldx.....any of you have experience with terminal performance with less than perfect shot placement?

I have a buddy who said no more 6.5 cm after drawing a limited entry mule deer tag and taking 3 rounds of eldx to kill a 190" deer at what would be considered a chip shot for him normally (380 yds). This guy has killed a bunch of big critters in a bunch of locations and is a heck of a rifleman.

Anyways, his first shot a bit forward, not full shoulder but not perfect double lung, but still decent placement. Followed by two more in the breadbasket. He brought it home but he said he's going back to 30 cal.

I never get interested in what a round does when placed perfectly, I get interested when its a chit show and what happens then.

Sounds like he's just making up excuses for a poor shot placement lol.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I have shot several deer with mine 2 separate times I have had quartering too shot that exited towards the back of the rib cages. Both were on very large bodied deer and both left exit holes about the size of a baseball.

Sounds like the air made his bullet blow up. Tell him to try a new Titanium Hyper Lock PPANDTT FOS Barnes incendiary core bullets. You can throw one of those at a deer from 852 yards and it will kill it. But is has to be exactly 852.

I had one less than perfect shot and she dropped. I shot a .270 for years then switched to a .308 before going to a 6.5 CM and I’ve never shot a gun/bullet combo that puts them down like the CM and ELD-X.

Sounds like some are getting some marginal kills with it. Again, I'm not interested in a double lung hit in the breadbasket, there ain't a bullet from 22 to 300wm that ain't gonna get that done.

He sent me a pic of the shoulder, looked like the bullet literally glanced off, there was a trickle of blood, but almost no penetration. Certainly didn't like a bullet that could break a deer down.

He's a shooter. I've witnessed him shoot some giants at yardage most wouldn't touch.

143 eld-x at 120 yards, quartering to me. Took out left shoulder and the ribs you see here, plus a fist size section of ribs on the right side. The bullet was loged in the skin.

143 ELDX for me too. Sub .5MOA in my Christensen.
I have 3 different guns, 6.5 creed, 7mm-08, and 300WSM. I shoot ELDX for all three. All rifles are sub 1" MOA with it and I would not to classify myself as a "good" shot.
