Found blood and tracked for about 60 yds pretty heavy then nothing? Any suggestions? How does the color of the blood look?
Thanks y’all
And it’s just a doe but the first deer I’ve ever shot so cut me some slack.

Good blood but looks like brisket or front shoulder. Not pink enough or enough bubbles to be lungs. If it were heart it wouldn't have stopped bleeding. How was she standing when you shot. Were you able to find your arrow? How long after the shot did you give her before tracking?

*look for hair at the spot where you shot her. If you can't find your arrow and not sure of where you hit her the hair you find will fill in the blanks.

Slightly quartered to me. Found the arrow. Gave her two hours before I got down. Going back to where I shot her to check hair

Great job on giving her plenty of time. Wish I was as closer I'd definitely be glad to help track. How does the blood on the arrow look? Pass thru or break off? Sometimes if arrow breaks off in them it gives the blood and organ meat something to hang on to and will clog the entry/exit. Good luck on the recovery!! Use toilet paper or tissue about eye level to mark your blood spots and it will give you a good idea of direction of travel and makes it enasier to find more blood when you lose it. You can step back and line up your tissue and get back on track. (Hope that makes sense)

Arrow passed through and didn’t break off. I have a buddy coming to help me track, if we don’t do any good I’ll contact someone about a dog.

If you gave her two hours before tracking then that deer should be dead. Retrace your steps where the blood is and notice the general direction that the deer was headed in. Mark the last spot of blood with a hat or something. Then continue walking in that direction looking for trails, tracks, tiny blood spots, hair, etc. Continue in a sweeping motion from the last blood or hair, walking in a zig zag towards the same general direction the deer was headed. Occasionally look behind you for that white belly just in case she is laying with her back to you. Most likely you will find her. I have found many after losing blood doing this.

John Stephens gave me a call and him and his young dog Dixie came out and gave me a hand. No luck though, after 6 hours I’m calling it. We gave it our best effort.

Blood looks good. Darker blood is usually liver shot. Your arrow often tells you a lot too, chunks on arrow, hair or bad scent. I've bled several that I never found(3 to be exact) and I still don't understand how they didn't bleed out. They are amazing animals. We all lose some, congrats on trying so long May I ask what broadhead you were using(cut on contact or mechanical)? Get back out there and kill one! I know it makes you sick to lose one. Hunt Safe

I hate it for you. I've never lost one yet, but as I continue to spend time in the woods I know it will eventually happen.

Broadhead was a three blade mechanical that came with the bow. I think I’ll try these fixed g5s next go around.
