I'm sure that they just happen to have the money to drive or fly hundreds of miles to Washington on their own dime and on their own time, to stay for 2-5 days to protest about something that they are totally clueless about. Dang right they were paid. Those types of people only get mobilized when transportation, food, lodging, cash money and most importantly TV air time is involved.
