if it makes u feel better get the insurance but in Alabama the landowner has a ton of statutory liability protection by making his/her land accessible to those persons or invitees to hunt and pursue recreational activities on their property. a landowner leasing hunting property is not going to be liable for leasees falling out of a tree or shooting themselves or someone else accidentally and will not be liable to trespassers. a landowner may be liable for known/existing very dangerous conditions on the property that he/she fails to warn about but even in those unique situations, state law strongly favors the landowner, as it should to encourage the landowner to make his/her property available for recreational activities.

There is an aspect of homeowners insurance that will cover certain conduct away from the home.
My homeowners liability covers my farm as long as there are no structures on it such as house or cabin.

This is what I’ve heard and am trying to verify. They sure don’t mention this in any available advertising or literature. Seems pretty useless to me if all other liability insurance is primary

This is the excess basis clause...

From people actually suing over a hunting accident on someone else's land? Suing the landowner?

Google rights of subrogation and excess basis. This will give you an understanding of the terms. It’s very real, One of my old members experienced it firsthand. I was almost drawn into it myself. Jerry wound up losing his homeowners policy over it. They paid the claim but immediately dropped him like a rock. Even though it’s a crock, it’s basically a necessity if you are a lease holder with members. You’d find yourself in a world of hurt if you didn’t have the liability policy and had a claim in which the responsible party had no additional coverage. In that situation, I’d say the landowner would be coming after you.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

AFOA insurance is 26 cents per acre and membership fees. I think our total is 565.00 a year for 1883 acres. Owner has to have a membership, also

Our landowner has the policy. It's Davis-Garvin Insurance Agency

Mine is $606 annually for a 1 million per incident or 2 million combined for about 6500 acres.

This is kinda different idea but if you are the landowner how about looking into an umbrella policy. It will cover a certain amount above what your homeowners will. It is primarily used for piece of mind if someone sues you. I wouldn't advertise having the policy much either. I would look into state farm ins co and I've heard a million dollar will run you $197 a year. It's cheaper if you
don't know you have a 4 wheeler.
