Is Bankhead NF predominantly hardwoods or pine? Do they ever log any of it?

I guess the feds call the shots on logging? Was there less logging going on when Obama was prez versus other presidents ?

I guess the feds call the shots on logging? Was there less logging going on when Obama was prez versus other presidents ? Not necessarily. We’ve had a very good silviculturist at Bankhead the last several years and an active timber improvement plan that’s cut quite a bit of timber. Mostly thinning pine or mixed stands with some clear cutting and short leaf planting. DC don’t call the shots on the NF. The local rangers and foresters working out of their respective offices do.
