You didn’t strike a nerve. I’m not irritated in the least sense of the word. Just asking for clarification.

You mean we can't hunt year round, night and day? There's some local rednecks who didn't get that memo.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Matt is too young to be corrupted by the politics yet. He still believes it's their job to manage the resources. They'll flip him in a few years.

Nope I would be fine with cutting rifle season in half infavor of a longer and earlier bow and muzzle loader season but that’s just my opinion. I stated there are many ways to make it work though that would keep the rifle hunters happier.

They could always learn how to shoot with a stick and string though...

Why should rifle season be cut merely because bowhunters want that to happen?
This is the kind of snobbish internal fighting that never is good.

I grew up in Alabama, and now live in Georgia. When I moved over here, I was told it's because of the rut timing due to the two states restocking efforts years ago. Georgia's deer came from Virginia (mostly) and Alabama's came from Michigan, I believe.
I can tell you that Georgia's rut starts much sooner. I had fawns on camera this year that were born mid to late April. That puts breeding for that doe sometime in October.
Most of the restocked deer in Alabama came from South Alabama. Only a very few areas came from "up North" , the largest of those is the Bankhead Forest area.
"Why do you ask"?

They should open it early.
That way up here you could kill velvet bucks and bucks with shed antlers all in one hunting season.
