I have a 2004 Honda Rincon 650 And a 2013 Honda Rubicon 500 And Both Of them have given Me trouble with the Automatic transmission. The Rincon was a switch that went Bad and the Rubicon was the shift motor got water in it 2 different times and had to Be replaced. Both times the water got in the shift motor was from washing it off. You would think that Honda would make an Electrical component on an ATV a lot more durable than that.

That would be a very, very easy decision for me.

Yamaha makes a great boat motor too, but my 4 wheeler is gonna have a Honda decal on it.

I bought a 97 model 300 fourtrax 4x4 the Friday before the 4th of July in 1996. I had to wait a few days for it to come in. I still have that 4 wheeler and have never had to do anything but maintenance and put a carburetor on it a few years ago. That's it. A carburetor. Nothing else. Ever. It has not lived an easy life either. 2 months after I bought it, I rolled it end over end 5 times down the side of a mountain at Skyline. It came to a stop still running and upright on a semi flat spot. Actually the downhill side was sitting on a log. I cut a stick so I could straighten the handlebars and rubbed my bruises and rode off on it. I straightened the racks back at home. It has been rolled a time or two since then and buried in mud and creekwater a few times too. When and if I go buy another one, it will be another Honda.

Mine is a manual shift 15’ model so I don’t have many miles. No problems.
My FIL has a 87 model and still runs strong, no transmission problems.

You have a 07 rubicon auto. With over 3000 hours. I’ve never had a problem with anything other than rear brakes.

I love mine. No problems but oil must be kept clean and MUST use the Honda oil.

I bought a 2015 new 500 foot shift. I couldn't kill my 1998 300 foot shift. I've owned a couple Honda electric shifts and both acted up on me. It never crossed my mind to buy an auto or electric shift when I was in the market for a new one and had them uncrate me a new one with a foot shift.

Brad,

I have a 2005 Honda Rubicon 500 that I bought new in August of 2005. It is the automatic transmission or electric shift model. You can run it in auto or shift it yourself via an electric shift button on the handlebars.

It may mess up tomorrow but it is now 13 years old and I have never had a minutes trouble out of the auto or electric shift side of it.

I swap it up about every other time I ride it. I really like the electric shift.

Can't go wrong with a Honda.
