Anybody ever had logs cut into boards. I have a bunch of cedar that I am considering to get cut into boards. Do yall know what the going cost would be? I can rip and / or cut up I just dont have a way to cut logs up. Any idea of where or who does this in central alabama. Thanks so much for info!

Get you an Alaskan lumber mill and do it yourself.

My FIL just had 15 big pines cut. Ended up with around 13,000 board feet. The guy that cut it is from around Talladega.
I believe his rate was .25 a foot. He owns and does demos for Wood Mizer Saws.
I will see if I can get his contact info. for you this evening.
I do know he will either cut wood delivered to him or if it is a big job he takes the saw to the work.

I’ve got a good friend in Montgomery that has a lumber mill. His unit is portable so he can either come to you or you can take your timber to him.

Im just getting an idea of what its cost? I know John Allen Deese cuts some and It probably isnt a big job. Thought it would be cool to do the inside of my camper with cedar so not a big job.

My guess on cedar would be 30-35 cents per board foot.

The guy that cut all my shiplap for the inside of the cabin charged me about 60 cents a square foot (which is almost the same thing as a board foot, but the wood was thinner) and he furnished the wood and delivered and stacked it on my back deck. Plus he planed it and routed the grooves in it. That was cheap, because he's a friend, but I would imagine if you furnished the wood and they came to your place and milled it it would be somewhere between the 25 cents some folks are quoting on the low end and the 60 cents I'm quoting.

I believe I know a guy in Monroeville with a portable saw for this type of work. Look up Woodworks by Brooks on facebook if you’re interested.

I had a portable saw mill back in the 90s.
I would often cut cedar and cypress on halves, because I could make a profit selling the lumber.
You might find someone willing to do that.

John Frank Deese will cut them. He will come to you if the job is big enough or you can bring them to him.
