The wife and I are packing up and moving to Knoxville, TN in about 2.5 weeks. I have a relocation package that will cover the cost of having my stuff moved up there (within reason), so we are looking for a moving service. We are probably going to pack it all ourselves, so we just need someone to transport it all up there. We may need temporary storage as well, as we may be staying in a hotel for a week or so until we find a place to live.

Eastern Shore Transfer in Fairhope AL. GOOD guy and runs a great business. NOT the cheapest but will show up when he says, answer his phone when you call, and take care of your stuff.

Click the Motivated Movers button in the advertising banner above. Me and my family have used Ben a couple of times and they do top notch work.

I’ve never used Motivated Movers but know several that have and they have all been happy.

I've only used a moving service once so I don't have much to compare it to, but Motivated did a great job.

I appreciate the offer. I got a quote today from MM and it was a good bit higher than I’m looking for. Looks like only a partial moving service (us packing and loading, someone else hauling) will be the option we have to go.

Since Motivated Movers is not an option for you, have you checked with PODS? Since you might need storage for a bit, too, that might be a good option.

My wife made a similar choice once. It cost us more in broken and damaged items than the licensed and INSURED movers were going to cost. YMMV

Good luck with it either way, moving can be very stressful on anyone especially young couples. thumbup

I kust sent Ben a customer who is moving from Troy to Montgomery. He has a lot of stuff and is too busy to do it himself.

Thanks for the recommendations so far. Anyone used budget van lines? They're the largest in the country and are well within budget to have them load/transport/unload all of our stuff, and it should be licensed/insured/etc.

Van lines are an affordable option. Not familiar with budget but most van lines can be cheaper because they have driver/owners that arrive at your home call around until they find movers who can accept $10 per hr though they know nothaing about them, load your stuff(sometimes well sometimes not so well) then the driver transports and calls all around until he finds day laborers to help at the unload.

What about a pod type service you pack, load and unload they ship it from your load to your unload. May be worth pricing anyway.

That's possible as well. It's looking like we are going to have a place to go before we get up there, so probably won't need temporary storage.
