A few months ago I posted about needing hearing aids. Well, it has been two weeks with them and I sure wish I did it sooner. I heard a breeze (light wind) for the 1st time in 20 years. I never knew your feet made sounds on carpet. I did make a mistake and left then on and got into the shower. Man, that was LOUD!. My wife is thrilled that I can hear and she does have to repeat things over and over. I can finally hear the TV too.
The only downside is the cost. It is around $4K. I opted for the non-bluetooth version because I carry a Samsung phone (company phone) and it adds another $2K. To use Bluetooth I would have to carry a dongle around my neck. iPhones do not require said device.

Only down side is now when you don't do something your wife asked you to, you can't say sorry I didn't hear you. My dad had them for years. Well he had a prescription for them and every time he'd get new ones he would lose them within a couple of weeks.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

A good friend of mine couldn't hear it thunder, but a friend of his that had hearing aids died and his widow gave them to him. Work like they were made for him.
I am probably going to ask the question incorrectly; but how did they characterize your hearing loss - mild, moderate, severe? And also what style did you choose IIC, CIC,...etc.
I definitely need them - I have allowed my pride to hold me back.
And BTW - I am VERY happy that it has worked out so well for you.

Just remember, NRA members get a big discount! My HA specialist said it's as good a discount as some of the best insurance coverages. If interested, go to NRA website, and look under member benefits. I don't think they have been dropped yet.

I have lost 50% of my hearing. I would say moderate to severe. I have attached a video of the process. Just so happens I have the same hearing aids as in the video. The Seimens Signia. They are over the ear. It looks like 10-15 lbs fishing line from behind my ear to in my ear. They are tiny. I can not comment on the Mac iOS as I am using a Samsung. If you have an iPhone their are some features you can use. I was a little vain in the beginning and it is darn near impossible to notice unless you are looking for them.
The doctor I went to gives you a 4 week trial period. No strings attached. That way you can tell if they are right for you before you have to pay for them. 3-year unconditional warranty too.

They cut ties with the NRA in Feb.

I finally got mine about a month ago. I have moderate hearing loss and it’s like living in a whole new world.
Did you notice more energy? I did. My audiologist told me to wait until fall. Rusting leaves are loud

Mudler, do your hearing aids have a sound-suppressor system for loud noises like firearms going off?
I wish. I have an app on my phone I can mute with one touch. I can also hold the volume down (they have a button on them. Left ear is down, right ear is up) and they go down fast. I just learned if I hold the right ear button down for 2 sec they turn off.
