Just saw a "Troy King for Attorney General" commercial that rips into Alice Martin and some other candidate for supposedly talking about and/or cutting a deal with the deposed Love Gov.
King is running again? Had no clue until now.
I know there were rumors about him when he left office, as is typical with most politicians, but don't remember anything outright shocking or questionable he did while serving as AG. If anyone else remembers, provide details.

I always thought his political demise was because of his support for Milton Mcgregors right to have gaming at his establishment. While the other politicians were having their pockets lined by the PB of CI.

Leroy, your are spot on. I've known Troy for almost 25 years and my son is working beside him every day on his campaign. I support him and hope he wins. He took a chance going up against Riley (who I never did like) over the gambling issue and it cost him the AG election against Strange.

I'll vote for him I don't have an issue with gambling. I choose not to gamble, anyone can make the same choice.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

Like Clem said, there were rumors towards the end, but none ever confirmed by those that worked for him so I just chalked them up to dirty politics. What I do know from those that worked for him is that they liked and respected him OK and weren't too saddened when he lost to Strange. They were hoping that Strange would be the guy they all loved working for. He was not. I haven't outright asked but I'd bet they would rather kept King, knowing what they know now.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I'm wearing my Troy King campaign shirt today. It looks just like a Regan/Bush '84 shirt with logo. Dr. B

Steve Marshall gets my support. He's a good man.

Alice Martin will get my vote. She is the person she says she is, and she does what she says she will do. She is also a big supporter of the 2nd amendment. That is where I'm leaning now too. I thought she did a good job as a federal prosecutor.

That was the justice department from Washington. They sent the prosecutors down from Washington.

That was the justice department from Washington. They sent the prosecutors down from Washington. Spellchecker. She had the option of moving his trial out of Alabama just like they did with the CEO of WorldCom over in Mississippi. She wanted to make political points by prosecuting him in Birmingham instead of shifting the trial to new York. WorldCom CEO was convicted in N.Y. and scrushy was found not guilty by a jury of his 'peers' in Birmingham. So yes, that fiasco falls at her feet. She has also had some lapses in memory regarding whether or not she interviewed with the LuvGuv for the AG position. She has tried to deny it despite writing a message thanking Bentley for the opportunity to interview for the position. I'm not picking any candidate at this point because none of them really stand out as being outstanding to me.

I'm watching the first Steve Marshall commercial that I've seen and had no clue he is the current Attorney General.
That bothers me because I've typically tried, for the last 30 years or so, to keep up with our state's politicians and what's going on. Lack of legitimate reporting in daily newspapers, fractured left-right and crappy reporting, and I guess disinterest with age have conspired to where I am now. That sucks. Gotta keep up better.
So we have a guy who is current AG who I'll bet most of the state doesn't know is AG or has heard of, a former AG running again and a woman who has some name recognition but also who some see as "that federal gubbermint woman" and automatically dismiss her.
Good ol' politics.

She has also had some lapses in memory regarding whether or not she interviewed with the LuvGuv for the AG position. She has tried to deny it despite writing a message thanking Bentley for the opportunity to interview for the position. One thing about politicians is similar to football coaches: they typically know and remember everything, and then remember and use it or dismiss and "forget" it when necessary. If Martin met with him, she knows but is being a politician. Nothing atypical. No different than perhaps Saban or Malzahn knowing about something going on with a player but keeping it close to the vest or letting underlings handle it. Politicians know a lot of stuff. A lot. Their underlings may keep some things from them for plausible deniability. But they know what's going on.
