What type of method and product can be used to remove oxidation and mildew that will not harm wood decks and shrubs? Thanks in advance for your time and shared experience.

Some CLR or equivalent.

Jomax roof cleaner its a little pricey but itll look like you had a new roof put on when your done and no scrubbing unless its real bad just spray and rinse

That's exactly what I was thinking.
I've only ever cleaned one roof, and that was to apply coolseal on a trailer.

Water ballons filled with cleaner. Throw on roof to bust and let soak about 3 hours before the rain hits.

Or hire some messicans that dont know about getn hurt and sueing lol

I would rather hire a musician because it would just sound better on the i can part.

That’s how I clean mine, it seems to work ok. Course my roof is so steep super glue wouldn’t have time to stick to it

I’ve never been on it. I fix cars and trucks and such not roofs. I do know the guys who put the roof on didn’t like being on it at all. They tied off to trees in the front yard and basically repelled down the back. 3 stories up and almost straight down on the back. I would have done it 15 years ago but I like being on the ground watching these days. Besides someone has to be around to tell how it all went wrong

Good choice and i don't blame you at all but for me retired with a limited income I don't know that I have a choice since i need the roof to last until my better half is gone.

if you do decide to get up there dont step foot on it if there is so much as a drop of water on it. a metal roof is like a slip and slide in the morning dew watched my boss slide down and drop two stories onto concrete broke 5 ribs shattered his wrists and fractured his neck. best way to spray it down is with two ladders with ladder jacks and a 2x12 run across for a scaffold or tie off and stay on the ridge a sloped wet metal roof is about as dangerous as it gets.

I appreciate the concern....been up there and toted a pressure washer but not happy with the result ....thinking the whole time..I'm not as young as i used to be...will heal slowly if at all....I mean it's only 14 ft...I fell twice that once but young. I did tree work right after school on the private end ...made a lot of money at that time...just saying height a lot of times was more than the 120 ft climbing rope had to re crotch...no fear of heights but will give it the respect it deserves. More concerned with getting it clean with a refinish to insure it will last ...my roof pitch is not steep.
