Well get a phone call from the wife saying that one of our granddaughters we have custody of has to have braces for 18 months. Dang the price shocked me. It's like a small loan at the bank.

Check into UAB. I friend of mine had to have them done and said the price was a good bit cheaper

Cost won't end after 18 months either! Cause it'll be retainers and more retainers on and on and on it never ends grin

Most places will finance the braces for you. They want a down payment and then monthly payments after that

Both my boy's braces were $3500-3800. They were 3 years apart. I just paid for them up front (equity line of credit) as their financing added considerably and the interest on my equity line is a tax write off.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

My son is getting his off May 10. His cost $5,500.00. I paid for it all at once. But, they would let you make a $500 down payment and pay the rest off monthly over 2 years. Host orthodontist offered 0% interest on the payments.

My son gets his off May 17th. I'm $5500 lighter in the pocketbook.

EDIT....I'm only $4000 lighter in the pocketbook, as insurance covered $1500 of it.

My youngun had them. Seems like they ran around 4K. Just made a payment at each months visit. Last visit equaled the last payment.

$1600 out of pocket ten years ago for what they called early phase treatment (braces). At the time insurance covered the first $1800 if memory serves.

Oldest 2 kids had them a $5000 each. Now youngest supposedly needs them. He’s 13 and his teeth are not that much out of line and he doesn’t complain of any issues. With the oldest kids ( 26,23 ) I can’t tell a ton of difference either because their teeth were not that bad. So I’ll give it a few more years.

How many kids do y’all remember having braces when you were young? I’m thinking the braces thing is a racket.

Between my two sons and the wife, I paid for FIVE sets of braces. Did get a t-shirt out of the deal.

Momma doesn't want little Johnny to look bad. People on Facebook may make fun of him. My front teeth were so crocked in school I was called "snags". In 7th grade I got braces. Name still stuck.

My daughter's teeth were very much in need of braces and took A LOT of work. Some probably don't need them, I would've paid double for my daughter to get her teeth pretty and straight.
