I hunted Flatwood a few times back in the late 80's with a friend of mine. I remember a construction worker took the winter off and pretty much lived there all winter. I was in high school and thought that would be the dream life!

For DK, Jaw and Troy, what does "Receiving stolen property 3rd" exactly entail under Bama law? Also, a $200,000 cash bond seems kinda low for a murder charge. Especially given that the old man got a $50,000 bond for just the obstruction. Any thoughts on that??? Receiving 3rd is a class d felony. Up to 5 years in prison. Property over $500 but less than $2,500. All firearm cases are receiving 3rd. $200,000 cash bond is actually a high bond. That means $200,000 cash, not property and not a bondsman. Rule 7.2 of the Alabama Criminal Code sets the bond schedule. Recommended bond on a murder is $50,000 to $150,000.

Especially given that the old man got a $50,000 bond for just the obstruction. Any thoughts on that??? If a person possesses stolen goods he is guilty of Receiving Stolen Property. At one time the law said just having the property is Prima Facia (sp?) evidence, but now it is pretty much accepted that in order to get a conviction, you have to show that they knew or should have known the property was stolen, for example, if you buy a $1500 rifle/scope combo for $150, you know it is stolen. They changed up the amounts since I retired so I'll have to defer to one of the current LEOs. As for the bond, that is probably what the bond schedule calls for. Unless there is evidence that is mitigating (flight risk, very extensive criminal history, threats to witnesses, etc.), the judges pretty much have to stick to the schedule.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

**********The Dadeville shooting made me go looking for an update here*******
I can find no news article as to either Ronald Price, Jr. or his father, Ronald Price, Sr. being convicted or sentenced. I cannot find either in the state inmate locator either.
Anyone know what happened here?
