I have never been able to roost a gobbler on our place. Most of them kinda roost in the same areas. What do y'all do to locate the gobblers early in the morning to try to get set up close to them. I always wait till they gobble on thier own but some times it's good daylight before they start and it's tough to get up on them. Is their something y'all try to get them to gobble early to help your set up?
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.

A peacock on an adjacent farm helps
Carrying a gun isn't comfortable; but at times it is comforting

A peacock on an adjacent farm helps So that’s your secret!

Well ive walked under turkeys that just wouldnt gobble but i try to just find somewhere i can listen and sit down and wait. I hate bustin turkeys so thats what i do. If they dont say nothin and i know theys turkeys around ill probly still just sit there an be real still an watch the woods..maybe fly down and purr some an scratch around. If its getin good an light an still aint even shock gobbled i might throw a soft yelp or two an see if he cuts me off. If its twilight and i know the area well and ive got an idea of where hes roostin and the terrain between me and him is gonna require eleven back flips, 3 cartwheels, and 1 electric slide to get to him i may hoot at him and see if he answers so i can decide how to proceed to make him ded...

I will owl hoot early and then crow call after I hear the first one crow. In a perfect world, I want to hear him gobble as early as possible to allow me to get to him and set up as soon as possible while he's still on the roost.

Dr. B Yep, if i still dont hear one. I go set up on a dust bowl, strut zone. Long road between thick stuff. And softly call and scratch in leaves.

Never underestimate a good Squatch holler or a wood knock
