I just bought an old 1187 special purpose from a friend of mine, I tried to get the choke out to put a turkey choke in it and the thing isn't budging. Should I soak the end of the barrel in some penetrating oil? anyone have any thoughts on how to get it out?

If it won't budge, apply some heat...You won't need much, just get it hot to the touch. Try to remove it again. If it still won't come out, Brownells sells a stuck choke remover. It's really just a big screw extractor. It should work but will destroy the tube. (See the thread I started in the general forum about shooting steel shot through a full choke tube.) Be careful if you go the extractor route though. You can damage the muzzle of your not careful.

There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

I had to use an ease out to get a stuck tube out of one of my shotguns. It came right out but the tube was ruined

Standing in a Timber Hole duck hunting.... look over and see someone stirring the water with their gun barrel.
I have visions of this ever time I see it.

Wintergreen Oil. Have to get it from behind the pharm counter. Drops on it, wait day or two, more drops, wait, more drops. When nothing else will work, INCLUDING Kroil, THIS will! Failing all that, put bbl in freezer 48 hrs. remove, heat bbl, try to remove choke.

well I've tried everything but an easy out and still can't get it out. I just picked up a #7 easy out and it seems fairly easy from the videos I've watched. going to try that as a last resort

When you’ve exhausted your efforts send it to Briley in Houston, TX. They’ll get it out. I sent one after myself and 3 gunsmiths tried it. Briley had it back to me in two weeks and like new. Can’t recommend them enough

Did you ever get it out? If not pour some brake fluid in a pin jar and stand barrel choke end down in it. Make sure the choke is all I. The fluid. Let sit a few days. Clamp barrel in a vice by the lug so it can't turn and use the big easy out with a big wrench.
It's hard to kiss the lips at night that chews your a$$ all day long.
