Spun the hub on my stainless prop and don't know of anyone around here that can replace the hub so I'm just going to go to aluminum. It's just a 40hp so I don't see the need for stainless I've got a 15 pitch now and it seems like i either need to go up or down in pitch to keep my rpms correct but I can't remember which. I'm happy with the performance of the prop I have now and I'm running 29-30 at 5500 +- rpm.

So prop gurus what do i need

If you have a Mercury, they have a prop finder on their website that is very useful

There are two types of gun enthusiasts ... Those who have been F#CKED by PTG and those who will be!

There is a place in Piedmont and Huntsville that will press in another hub.

go up a pitch on aluminium as it will have more slip than stainless, but you can have the hub replaced for about $40. you may need to ship it, but that a better option imo than an aluminum.

Anything worth doing, is worth doing right, or it's not worth doing at all!

It's a 16 foot aluminum boat with a 40 I think it'll be fine. I'd go stainless on bass boat

If you are hitting stumps often like I do, I like aluminum because they can take most of the beating and not transfer as much damage to your lower unit.

I had a 40 etec on a 16 ft aluminum. I ran aluminum and Stainless props that were the same size and pitch. I could not tell a difference at all. I ran a 17 pitch and never tried anything else since it ran so good with it.

I'd probably go up 2 to a 17 with the aluminum.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

How do you know you’re turning 5500+ rpms? Gauge in the boat?
