My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

How can something so small cause so much misery? The first time I got it was September of 2016. I was a Africa ( Limpopo) hunting, woke up one morning and thought I had broke my Big toe. thru the day it got in both feet, they wanted me to go to the clinic there, NOPE! it went away after a couple of days, but man I wanted to cut my feet off. Now, I get it quite regularly if I don't watch what I eat.

I've had broken toes. Very painful and difficult to walk.

Best thing I’ve ever done was to go to the Dr. and asked to be put on Allopurinol! Very rarely have a flare up. Gout is almost as bad as Kidney stones. Almost.

One of the toughest men I ever knew told me it hurt to even put the bed sheet over his feet. You're right, I did say that. I don't know how it can hurt to have a bed sheet touch your toe, but when you're having a gout attack, it dang sure does. I've had kidney stones, broken bones, torn ligaments, cuts, surgeries, etc and I've never experienced anything that hurts as bad as gout. I found my trigger food. Pinto beans. Really any type of bean, except green beans and lima beans. I can eat all the skrimps, and whatever else I want but if I eat a helping of pintos, or a bowl of taco soup with kidney and black beans in it, I'm going to be in major pain the next day or earlier. Mine is not in my big toe, it's in my 2nd and 3rd toes. In case some of you haven't tried it, INDOMETHACIN, will knock mine out. After one dose the pain is tolerable and I can walk without limping 24-36 hours later. Very little pain, just soreness after that until it's gone. Usually 4-5 days of it will knock it out. It's an NSAID that reduces uric acid levels. I am not going on a gout medication that I have to take every day unless there are no other options.... One thing I did this summer was, once cherries came into season, I froze several bags of them. I used the last ones when I had a flare up around Christmas. Cherries help a bunch.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

I went on the daily meds to help prevent Gout and kidney stones. I can’t complain. I also don’t blame you for not wanting to go on daily meds. Unfortunately it was my only option.

It is the worst pain I’ve ever had. I first got it about 6 years ago. I thought that I had somehow stumped my toe. First time it went away not too paInful. The next time damn!!! I said something is bad wrong, went to Dr and got a shot in the joint, and that hurt about as bad, but it was instant relief. Since then, I’ve had it about 4 times in each big toe, twice in my ankle, and the last time in my elbow, and that was no joke. After a number of shots and trial and error, I have finally figured out how to dose Colchicin to stop it once I feel it coming on. And as Fur said, I finally figured out the number one trigger food for me, Crawfish!! Something I love to eat, but I will not touch it now.

My wife sucks on my big toe. Cleared it right up.

I begged the doctor to cut my foot off at 1 point,I had a flair up that just would not go away, most pain I had ever been in. The last flair up I had was in both feet, and left knee,I was completely disabled.I discovered Allopurinol,as a preventive med,and Colchicin for my flair ups. I am never pain free anymore, but I can tolerate the ache in my right toe joint.
I would rather be turkey hunting

I do not get gout but my husband has suffered from it for many years. Once we figured out what was happening years ago, we were diligent about paying attention to what we ate that triggered attacks. His trigger foods are shellfish [any type], asparagus and spinach. Dried beans sometimes but not very often. Not sure what the difference in dried and fresh is but the dried beans have an impact.
He takes a preventative every day and for the last several years, that has pretty much kept his gout in check. However, he recently had some neck surgery and the surgery triggered a bad attack. He got it in his ankle, knees and elbows and it totally debilitated him. He could not stand or walk and in addition to being one day out of surgery he could not have been more miserable. Thank goodness, our daughter is a nurse practitioner and made a house call to give him a couple of shots that alleviated the excruciating pain fairly quickly. Even so, it took days for the soreness to be completely eliminated.
We also keep cherries handy when they are in season and cherry juice. Like I said, I don't get it but I have been beside a grown man with tears running down his face because the pain was so excruciating. It is a terrible aiment that I would not wish on anyone.

Be kind to one another and tell the ones you love that you love them often. We never know what tomorrow will bring.
