No friggin joke. Every non-hunter I’ve ever talked to: “it’s ridiculous the amount of deer Alabama has, something needs to be done, I can’t ride down the road without seeing 468 deer in a half mile stretch, they just stand in the grass waiting to jump in front of a car...”

I've hunted around Hamilton some. I'd say he's not got a good grasp on the deer population in that area or hunted one heck of a better piece of property than I did.

I’ve noticed this, why does this occur?

To get the lazy folks hopes up that can't actually hunt deer with out a massive pile of corn. I don't see it being sportsman like nor do I see hunting deer with a 50 cal 900yds a way sportmans like or either of the two actually hunting. But that's my opinion and a wise old man told me once opinions are like ass holes everybody's got one and most of them stink.

Oh, you must be the guy hunting them on foot with nothing but a loin cloth and a sharpened stick. No 4 wheel drive. No 4 wheeler. No scoped rifle. No tree stands. No Camo clothing. No cover scents. No scent attractants. No Binoculars. No trail cameras. No grunt tube. No rattling antlers. Etc, etc. Cause you know using any of that stuff wouldn't be sportsmanlike or what any respectable person could call hunting. LOL! Some of you guys reeeeaaallllly need to get over yourselves.

If you believe the bulldoodoo you just spat out Todd you must be one of the lazy ones that can hunt I mentioned. Everything you mentioned is actually hunting, using skills mimincing the deer activities rattleing, grunting, etc. Say for example if I was hunting you and used camo to blend in, tracked your usual routine and travel routes, waited for you to chase women around when you was thinking with the wrong head. All this and your none the wiser you had a fair chance now if I put a pile of hamburgers and a keg of beer out and waited on you to come sit down and eat and drank beer and I know you will then whacked you in the head with a hammer. Sure would make my hunt easier, less work, less time invested, less money invested, zero skill involved

What exactly are the people who sit over a green patch doing that requires skill? Ponder that and you'll begin to grasp the hypocrisy of the situation and your opinion. And if you don't think that all those things I mentioned make hunting far far easier then you're just deluding yourself.

In fact deerfeeder (ironic name for someone opposed to baiting) I issue you the following challenge to prove my point concerning what truly makes hunting easy. If baiting with corn becomes legal here in Alabama we will have a contest. You can hunt over all the corn you want. Huge gigantic piles of it. But you have to hunt on foot from ground level using a hand thrown spear. I on the other hand will not be allowed to use corn or any type bait at all but will be allowed to use a scoped rifle, cover scent, camo clothing, and a climbing tree stand. The person who kills the most deer that season wins. We can wager a 1000, 5000, 10,000 dollars. What ever makes it interesting to you. You in? LOL!

As you are handing me the check maybe the reality of what truly makes hunting easier will dawn on you.

I already covered that in my earlier response it's still hunting fair chase. I plant 4 acres split between two green fields every year but hunt over neither field, actually is the only private property I hunt small 50 acre section of land. When I hunt that place it's in the woods which is hard woods and pines I might hunt it 4 times all year. I hunt public land the rest of the places I hunt. A green field vs pouring corn out requires a effort/time on the persons vs walking out the weekend your going to hunt and dumping 200lbs of corn out. I plant those fields to try and improve the quality of the deer that's there, thats 4 acres that I don't have to bushhog, also plant a summer crop to try and improve one what deer is there. My handle is deerfeeder as what I mentioned pretty much sums it up. You do it your way I'll do it mine.

I know exactly what each requires. We plant about 14 green patches a year in addition to feeding corn and pellets from feeders. The feeders running year round require more work and effort than the patches by far. They have to be filled often. Batteries maintained and/or replaced when need be. And repaired when they break down or are damaged. Green patches are a weekend of work once a year with perhaps a one time follow up booster of some fertilizer. About as low maintenance as it gets.

The second half of your comment is really laughable. So you think hunting over corn would just be as simple as picking up some sacks the weekend you plan to hunt; dumping them out and then sitting over the pile you just dumped out? Lord have mercy. Yeah, cause deer just instantly psychically know the instant corn has been dumped out somewhere. LOL! No need to put anything out at any other time. Just the weekend you plan to go. They will instant sense a corn disturbance in the force. LOL! Man, thanks for the laugh. You made my day.

They might. But i talked to half dozen folks this weekend that said if it passes they still wouldn't pay the fee. I'm betting a lot of folks would still get ticketed, cause i'm thinking you just might see more GWs checking out clubs if it does pass....

I’d bet they make more money off the fees than they would the fines. Most people is going to buy one, even a lot of the ones bitching about it in this thread.

The GW will still have to check your feeders and to make sure you're not dumping feed on the ground-correct? That's fine should be $1500. Enough to deter someone to just pour it out to keep the GW out of the woods.

X2. The hell with it the ones that are gonna pay to hunt over it are the ones that are hunting over it now for the most part. We want all outlaws caught anyway, So now we can get money from everyone who does it verses just the ones we catch. Plus the wardens can hunt the real Jackasses that shoot off the roads right? On the other hand It’s clearly a money grab at the expense of our natural resources once again.

Alabama is the dumbest state in the union. We have the dumbest laws, and I have to say, some of the dumbest people. We can't kill but 3 bucks a year. Enforce that! Who gives a rats ass if he shoots them in the woods eating acorns(nature's bait), in a green field or over a corn pile. Some of you elitist kill me.
