The guy had pics of a deer he said was the same one he killed in 12 as a 2.5-3 year old. I just find it hard to believe the deer was that old.

That is not the jawbone of a deer anywhere near 8 years old.

I understand why you have a hard time believing he was that old. He's not. He's not even half way to 8 IMO. With no history or other jawbones from that specific property and not knowing soil type, I'd say he was a 3 yr old based on just that one picture of the jawbone and typical wear exhibited in Bama. Soil type can and does affect tooth wear but I'd say with 70-80% certainty, that came from a 3 yr old.

He killed the deer in '12 and again this year?

That jawbone is not close to 8 years old.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Tell him to share the pictures, post them on here and let us decide if it’s the same deer.

He said it was cause it had a weird brow like the one he killed. Very well could have been a son but not the same deer.

Ill show you a jawbone of a deer I believe is 4.5 that came from my property this year as soon as I get the euro finished. These deer are eating the same thing cause they lived less than 2 miles apart.

Matt is the real expert. He gets paid to do it for a living. I've just been around enough guys like Matt that I've paid close attention and picked up enough knowledge over the years to know what to look for.

No not at all. Looks like a nice healthy young jaw to me. The older to me (4-5) deer I have killed look a bit more worn to me but we dont have the best ground..

Nope - not even close - it can be difficult to age if the animal lives in a sandy soil area, but in this case. Those are not the teeth of an 8-year old.
