I have received a couple of phone calls today from people saying they were calling me back.
One was from a number in my contacts and the other was not.
I do not have a recent call showing on my phone like I butt dialed them either, also highly doubtful since I rarely (not going to say never, but I do not recall it happening) buttdial.

Dang, I hope Rebecca isn't calling people from my number and giving out free cruises.
Telemarketers and scammers chap my rump.

We have been having the same issue. We have figured out it's the telemarketers using our numbers to call on.

Happened a couple times to me too.

Happened to me the other day.

I had a number call me last week and hung up when i answered. I redialed the number, a guy answered. I said hey i missed a call from this number. He said no you didnt my phone has been sitting right here all morning. I told him i hit redial, so it was definately his number. He acted kinda irritated like i was calling him a liar. I told him i believed him but his number just called me so somebody was using his number, he might should check into it. I thought that was pretty strange. How does somebody hijack your phone number? And how are the scammers using it to screw someone over?

I love tele marketers. I had one guy on hold for 15 mins on and off today while I figured out which of my student loans were the highest. Then I told him he now knows how much time I waste with their stupid calls every day and hung up on him.

I get 5 or 6 calls a day from local phone numbers. If I mis the call and call the number back, they have no clue what I'm talking about when I say I had a missed call from them. If I answer, most of the time it's somebody asking if Dan is there, or some healthcare inrolement BS.

If I ever meet one of these POS telemarketers in person...

I block every single number thats a telemarketer. It has reduced the calls a good bit.

It's a program you can get. When you call out the number changes every time. The one I've seen displayed the number dialed. The dr. Office my wife worked at used this system. It was originally designed to do things like welfare calls from my understanding. You would be surprised how may people won't answer when they see their doctor calling

It's called spoofing. You can look it up on the innertube.

Calling the national do not call registry helps a lot. Probably reduced telemarketers calling by 90%. Google it.

If you are not on my contact list, you go to voice mail. I have a coworker that thinks he has to answer every call to his cell. 90% are telemarketers.

Yep, i get the local call spoof stuff all the time and I'm on the do not call list since it came out. I don't answer calls not on my contact list anymore either. I figure if it's a legit call they will leave a message and I will call back.

The problem isn't me getting calls it's my number calling other people.

yeah, got a call the other day and the guy left a message that he was returning my call.i don't know that there is anything we can do about the spoofers using our number. Looks like the phone company or the government could put a stop to the whole deal.
