I'm looking for Turkey lease/membership within an hour or so of mobile. Very respectful of others, clean up behind myself and follow the rules. 52 yo from mobile-lifelong outdoorsman. Just me.

Surely someone or club would accept $500 for a turkey Hunter that is looking out for their property and reporting anything unusual and perhaps give a very detailed post deer season scouting report, huh?

Ha! Guess I must be dreaming. Oh well thought I'd throw that out there, have a little fun and give some folks something to ponder. I'll find some birds somewhere eventually.

Keep asking around.. You will stumble across something.. The people saying you cant find what you are looking for are the ones who also turkey hunt and would like the same for themselves.. Turkey hunters are just like everyone else.. They want you to do good, but never better than them!

Actually the ones saying that, are the same ones that look 24/7/365 with an open checkbook. People who do that find a decent one every few years. Unless you know someone personally, your odds are slim to none when you wait until a month before the season....

I believe in the coming years turkey hunting will bypass deer hunting and it will become a more prestigious sport. Kind of like quail hunting. Typically, you need more land per hunter and there are way less turkeys across this state than deer. Add in the fact that you actually call walk and hunt turkey vs sit and wait it's easy to see how it could be more enjoyable for some folks. If you have a place to go you better do whatever you can to hang on to it. Turkey huntings about to become cool.

Well, I've always thought turkey hunting was cool, more fun and enjoyable. I also believe that watching the woods come alive on those cool, crisp, spring mornings is an awesome experience. I truly enjoy deer " hunting". I like to scout, find the sign and try to pattern a buck....the old fashion way before cameras. Deer "sitting" doesn't do much for me. However, talking turkey, and hearing a thunderous gobble getting closer gives me a thrill beyond buck fever. The anticipation, the strut, fanning, the stillness required and truly camouflaging yourself is what hunting is all about. Besides, they can't smell you and you can shower like normal before you hit the woods. I also like the being able to walk around a bit before getting on a bird. But, don't tell anyone how cool it is. We wouldn't want many more addicts, like us, out there. Turkey hunters are a special breed with an excitement requirement that must be fulfilled. More than hoping to find a place, I NEED it. It'll happen. If I do and and need a few more guns to make it work I'll fill all you crazy, thrill seeking addicts in!

I think it has peaked. And folks don’t pay as much for turkey rights than deer when the rubber meets the road. And lots of people try it on small, marginal properties with unrealistic expectations. People fish. Kids play baseball. Folks plant stuff. Do yard work. Catch up on deer season honey-do’s. Get married. Go on spring break vacations. All in the Spring!

And most of it all - people are lazy. Worse with every generation.

I hope your right, I've seen more non turkey hunters suddenly become pros and fired up about the season than ever. Facebook is full of newbs looking for places to turkey hunt. It just feels like this is slowly becoming duck hunting part 2
