Anybody got a good source around Huntsville AL? I used some recycled rubber mats from lowes last year. They worked ok, held a good bit of shot. I probably recovered 70%.

you remember which ones? last year they didnt have the runners sold by the foot. I will check again this year though.

On lowes website I see they vinyl/carpet runner by the foot, but its $6 a foot. I think I built my trap 3x4, so that would be $75 for three pieces.

I’m retaining over 96% with carpet. I would be pissed if I only got 70% back. 2 thicknesses of carpet and let her eat. Beat the piss out of it with a baseball batt and blow the trough out with a leaf blower, a few minutes with a magnet and you are ready to reload it again.

Just straight up carpet, no rubber backing?

Straight up out of a dumpster. I pull it tight and tack it down to the frame tight so it doesnt bounce out. Works like a boss.

Hmmm, not sure my trap design will allow that. Mine is built to have hanging layers.

Try a cleaner place like Cintas or 1st Response, they will sometimes have solid rubber or carpet runners from commercial businesses they'll give you to get rid of them

I bought some of the rubber mats from Lowe’s. I haven’t calculated % retained, but it sure as hell beats the 0% I’ve gotten in the past. Hook me up with some turkey land in Mulberry, TN and I’ll buy you some and bring them to you and install. I also have old carpet I’ll remove and bring to you if you would prefer that route grin

That’s mighty nice of you, but I’ll just let him use my trap and may even bring it to him for turkey land in Mulberry, TN. laugh

It’s pretty dented up, but I haven’t head butted it yet so it still functions.

If I had land, between the two of you there probably wouldn't be a turkey left on the place at the end of the season.
