So me and neighbor got into an argument about QDM. Now I'm not speaking of planting biological food plot mix, and planting fruit trees, etc. I'm speaking general QDM about holding off on the younger deer and only shooting mature deer. Sorry azzhat ran his mouth to other neighbors calling us on our property "trigger happy." I've hunted this 60 acre tract for only 3 years now. He owns approximately 70 acres directly across the road from ours. So within the last 3 years, only 2 bucks and 4 does have been harvested off our 60 acres. Both deer were 4.5+ and the does were basically meat for the freezer. This azzhat runs his trap saying he can't kill a good buck because we shoot everything that walks. As of right now on 60 acres we most likely have 8-10 does on cam everyday during daylight and 7-8 bucks. Which 2 are shooters and are very camera shy during daytime but have started slipping since the rut is coming into play. For 60 acres in a poor soil area (literally right on top of what could be a good stone quarry), how much better can you practice QDM? I was trying to explain to this azzhat that there ain't much more we can do on our side of the road to help better without starting to spend serious $$. Shooting 4 does and 2 bucks in 3 years between 2 hunters. Is that too much pressure? Is that being so called "trigger happy?" Rant over.

you can't control what others think or say about you, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. Keep doing what makes you happy while hunting.

I wouldn't worry about what other folks think you're doing on your property. It's yours! You hunt like you want and he can hunt how he wants. My .02

central ala,
I'd tell him like I tell mine, you can do what you want on yours all the way to the line. Really, I have no complaints on any of my neighbors. They go there way and I go mine.

I will admit that we do not have everything to keep deer on the property but we do have them traveling on and through our property.

Pressure isn't just the act of killing. With that small an acreage , It wouldn't take much hunting, scouting, camera checking, by you , or the neighbor, to make for tough hunting.

It's your property shoot what you want.....assholes are born every day and I'm sure the other neighbors know he is one. What your doing is not overkill as for me I let my grandkids kill a couple every year and I might take a doe for myself early in the season then I'll go after a 140 or bigger on my property of 20 acres.

It wouldn't bother me what he thought. I've got a little more than you and will shoot what I want when I want. If someone wants to manage it they can buy it.

I think all this QDM crap has gotten so far outta hand it don't make sense to say it in most cases. You ain't magaging nothing less than a few thousand acres without a fence, anything else is selective shooting and fooling yourself at best. Tellem to buy it and then he can decide

And you're worried about what he said, why?

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

2 deer a year isn't too much. If you're consistently holding 10 does and 8 bucks on just 60 acres your doing something right. That's 1 deer for every 3.33 acres. Congrats. You've probably got the highest deer density in Alabama.

"Worried" isn't the term. More like pissed off as to if I want to take this issue to another level, which seems immature but same time would like to kick his arse.

I'm sure maybe only 2 bucks bed on our property but do see each of those bucks either once per day or once every 2 days. It's as if they come to eat and travel back next door to bed.

That pretty well sums it up. Selective shooting is what most hunters can do. Nothing wrong with that. Everything else is determined by what the landowner allows, number of acres, neighbors, etc.
