If you are close to Winston county you may want to consider going a gym. If you have facebook you can use that to see whats in your area too. There may be a local archery club, QDMA brach, or any other group near by. Im not sure where you are but Id be willing to bet there is someone from here near by.

As a LAST resort... and I would advise against it if perch says he knows a "great little spot" to get an ice cold zima you may want to pass lol

I'm in the same boat. Recently divorced after 20 years of marriage and I still have the kids, thank goodness but I am lost as to what to do and where to go. I'm still kind of in a funk and not real fired up about a woman at the moment but at times I think I'm ready to start piddlin,

Are you looking for women, or guys to go watch football/hunt with?

Women after the age of ~30 are very easy to find, if you have a job, and your act somewhat together. Most any of the online dating sites have dozens of women, looking for someone.

Men - Just post on here that you want to meet up to hunt. Need someone to hunt with, and someone will hunt with you. Maybe look to join a hunt club, and show up to work days.

Do you have kids? If so, get involved in their youth sports league as a coach/volunteer. If you don't have any kids, what are you interested in? Cars, join a car club. Shooting, join a gun club. Fishing, join a bass club. Dogs, join a local chapter of coon hunting or bird hunting club. Church is another good place for men's/singles groups. I've kind of been in the same boat with not much of a social life but about decided most folks will just let you down so I spend most all my free time either on my own piddling in the garage or with my family.

Most will let you down. What do you usually piddle with in your garage? I have been trying to think of things to do. I could definitely practice welding, cause I am NO good.

Yep, and to take it a step further, get in a small group within the church . Some of our small group friends are more "family" than a lot of our actual family.

If you just want to practice welding, come up to the house one day. I've got a stick welder and wire welder and a bunch of scrap metal. we can weld til you get tired of that, then go hunt til dark.

I fool with my Arctic Cat UTV. Right now I'm in the process of making a windshield for it and have cut a pattern out of cardboard. I also like to do woodwork or maintenance on my yard tools/equipment. Last week I took the carburetor apart on my generator, cleaned it and put it back together. I plan on extending the porch at my place on the lake in a few weeks. Just anything to keep me busy and give me a satisfaction of accomplishing something productive. I have been welding for over 20 years but don't own one myself. That's a great item to keep you busy if you have one.

What some folks don't understand is that to have and maintain friendships you have to be a friend. If a buddy calls and he needs your help and you try to bail out cause you don't want to piss Mama off guess what? He won't call again.

You almost hit the nail on the head from my experiences. Like the Tracy Lawrence song "You find out who your friends are", when the chips are down, and you need a friend the most, that's when folks' true colors start showing through.

More than welcome to come Hunting with me anytime. You just can't shoot any of my deer. That shouldn't be a problem since I would put you on the neighbors stand anyway lol jk just let me know when. Btw you know how to get drum breaks unstuck, or how to put out fires? Either one will work
