I would buy a tractor, bush hog, disk, and drag before I evenen thought about buying anything else. Especially on 50 acres.

Yeah but they can be too big. We've got two tractors that are much too big to use in the woods.
You need a 35 to 50 hp tractor for hunting land. That's usually plenty big enough.

True.

You will not get a good tractor around $4000, unless you know somebody selling one who really likes you. I looked for years. $7000 seems to be the magic number for a descent fairly low hour reliable brand farm tractor. Thats been my experience anyhow. I rode all over north alabama looking at "nice" $4000 tractors for about 2years. Never found one id take home with me.

I'd agree with this, even if you had a couple hundred acres. For hunting, you can park at the gate and walk anywhere you need to go. If there is a road through it, you should be able to drag any deer you kill to the road. The only reason I see you needing to buy anything is if you want to plant plots, and then a tractor is much better than an ATV.

My dad and I kept up 300 acres for decades with an old International H and drag type equipment. I walked wherever I wanted to hunt. I hauled out some of the best deer I ever killed in the trunk of a 65 Impala.

Good luck!

I've threatened to sell it a time or two. But always find myself using it when I talk about selling it. It has lockers in the front and rear so all 4 tires pull and alot of other stuff that I've done to it. The bed is 5ft wide so it's over all size it's about the same size as a 4 seater Razer and itll go where a SxS won't go. The tire are 34" super swampers

I had intentions to flatbed my 81 yota but I over built it and it was worthless on the street.. At 6'4" a regular cab yota is cramped for me but it was a going SOB

You don't want turf tires if you're planning on breaking ground.
They won't pull a disk or blade.
They don't do well anywhere really. The only good thing about them is they won't rip up your yard.

Problem with farm truck is you still have to get liability insurance on it.

It's cheap. My tag is aroind 17 or 18 dollars, insurance is cheap because it's under a mileage age limit I don't put 2000 miles a year on that truck i want to say it's around $200 for the year. But if plus on leaving the truck there and not it on a public road he doesn't have to have insurance or a tag

You can get implements for a utv or atv. For small properties thats what I would do. The implements may not work as well as a tractor but they work.

This is all really helpful, thanks! And yes, this property butts up to my land, I wouldn't plan on using the vehicle on public roads.
