So Santa Claus came and I have around $120 in gift cards. So I am wanting a more comfortable pair of snake boots. Help me narrow down my selection.

Rocky® Men's Retraction Snake Boots $119 - Heard bad things about Rockey and pretty sure I want laces.

Cabela's Men's Copperhead Snake Boots with 4MOST DRY-PLUS™ $133
Lifetime warranty

Irish Setter Men's Vaprtrek™ Snake Boots

What would you buy given these options?

I have gone through a pair of snake boots every year the past few years. Last year I started with a pair of the Irish Setters. They lasted the entire hog killing season. I had tried Rocky's and Danner's. Actually tried the Danners two years since they replaced the first pair for free. None of the others last 6 months.

No doubt I work my boots more than most.

I recommend the Irish Setters BIG TIME!

First pair of Irish Setter Vaprtreks leaked. Second pair, same thing. I'm done with Irish Setter.

I've been through many different snakeboots and so far the vapr treks are by far my favorite with prong horns being 2nd.

I bought a pair of the redhead brand from bass pro last turkey season and am still wearing them today when I deer hunt and its not freezing outside. I have put many miles on them in Alabama and Illinois. They are comfortable and I have nothing bad to say about them.

One thing I did before I wore them was sprayed them with a silicone water seal then let them dry and sprayed them again. They have not leaked one bit yet. I plan on buying another pair when these wear out.

I have the copperheads and they were comfortable out of the box.

I'd probably try the Irish setter boots. I may have to buy a pair at that price. Heard good things about them. Rocky & BPS are average to below average from personal experience.

Is it just me or does the inner lining of any snake boot eventually start catching your heel making it dam near impossible to get off? I've had 3 different brands and they all did it!

My previous pair was a Bass Pro brand that did NOT unlace down to the foot and they were a PITA to get off. After a few years the liner came up with my heel. The Cabelas copperheads I have now unlace down to the foot and are much easier to get off.

I have the VaprTreks and they are incredibly comfortable. Havn't had any problems with them leaking.

Vaprtreks most comfortable snake boot Ive ever worn, and I mean by far!!

So I bought the Vaprtreks. They are tight on the inside of the heel cups. Has anyone else experienced this? I have only worn them inside the house. My wife says they just need to break in.

Thoughts?

It is obvious to me the reason none of them last is because most all the snake boots on the market where I am looking are built like tennis shoes not boots. That's ok for Turkey hunting or something light duty but for work that isn't going to cut the mustard.

Does anyone other than Chippewa make snake boots that are constructed like a real boot? Not a molded tennis shoe?

I am on my 4-5 year on Cabelas and wear them turkey and bow season. No leaks so far; can't say that for the Irish Setters that leaked after a year and returned. The replacements they sent me I could not zip past my calves.

I think my Cabelas lasted 2 years. Problem was when the sole came off I was way up in the mountains which made for a fun walk out.
