For sitting in a stand all day when it is cold and windy in your opinion what is the warmest coat and bibs money can buy. I have never had any of the real expensive stuff that is suppose to be great. I just layer up with some wool long johns with my Artic Shield coat and bibs and do ok. But I am sure there is better stuff out there.

Look at some Cabelas Wool or berber. I own the berber jacket and it is great. I always depend on layering. Wearing one heavy garment can also get too warm once the sun comes up and is usually bulky. They put their stuff on sale this time of the year too.

I've got a decent jacket that I always used duck hunting and now wear it as a deer hunting jacket and a regular ole set of insulated bibs- my ticket to staying warm is plenty of good layers. I bought a bunch of the merino Icebreaker stuff last year when it was on sale and have enjoyed it so far.
I know a few people that own the stuff that perch listed, They have all said it's really good product.
If I've got a good hike in, I'll pack my jacket and bibs in to avoid breaking a sweat.

I know it doesn't specifically answer your question, but several layers of t-shirts under my heavy coat, a hand muff and insulated boot covers have solved my needs for cold gear.

There's no doubt layering is the key and IMO it is hard to beat wool and fleece for that. But both are no good without something to stop the wind. I was just curious of what everyone has used for outer wear that was really good. Not neccesarly for me but anyone that was or might be in the market. Nobody wants to buy something and it not be what you expected. Always better to get first hand knowledge from someone that has used it.

The cabelas Berber fleece with windshear I mentioned has been my go to in cold windy weather. It's worked great

Me too rifle. I have windshear pull over and Berber Jacket. The only time I need more is when rain is in the forecast.

I have a goose down Remington coat and a pair of bibs that are filled with regular polyester stuff. Get you a pair of Air Force underwear and you will stay warm. They are made of polypropylene. They are very comfortable. They are made different than the Army version that clings. Check with these people.... www.hbarmynavystore.comThe Air Force version is much better and much more comfortable. They have piles of it, very cheap.

The warmest IMO outside some expedition suits and parkas they wear in the Antarctic are Cabelas extreme stand bibs and Parkas. They also have coveralls. They are warm but heavy and I don't wear them if I have to walk far to the stand. The next is their Berber fleece with windshear. I can wear a simple thermal shirt with the Berber fleece and extreme bibs in mid 20s. If I was going out in single digits or teens like tomorrow with wind I can wear 1 set of fleece pants, fleece top and the Parka and bibs and be fine. I got lucky a couple years ago around Christmas and got the Psrka and Bibs on sale for 300.00. Their normal price is around 300 for each and I did notice they have not dropped the price much in the last two years even when on sale. They have the Parks for 149.88 http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.j...g_ref=prd750919

I used to own a pair of coveralls that the brand was 10X. Best ones I've ever owned. I bought another pair several years later and they just didn't seem as good.
