as you are no doubt aware 63,000 people die of opioid overdose each year. according to reports about 30000 people die from shootings (although I personally do not believe that number, seems way too high).
Don't you think they would get all exercised by an addictive substance that kills 480,000 people each year? Don't you think they would arrest and imprison the dealers that sell such a substance? That the Democrats and Republicans could get together to ban such a substance?
The CDC says that that number of people (480,000) die of smoking tobacco each year. (cdc.gov/tobacco/data)
Is it ok for smokers to die and dopers not?

Isn't it time to declare war on tobacco just like the war on drugs?
Maybe the opioid solution is to make it legal, tax hell out of it and
put warnings on the package.
Can you tell I hate smoking? My dad smoked while he had heart disease and it shortened his time with his family. My mother had an undetected lung cancer when she died. My grandfather dies of lung cancer. And it was not a quick uh oh I shot up too much smack, good by- no it was a long drawn out process of being on oxygen and pain and stays in the hospital, and drugs that make you sick as hell.
OK old man rant over. If I have insulted you smokers out there, good riddance if it makes you think about your loved ones and how it effects them.

I approve the above message.

I wish every one of the tobacco product manufacturing plants would suddenly burn with spontanious combustion and all tobacco plants would get a disease and die.

I'm not a cigarette smoker, but I don't want the government intruding more in my life than they already do.

Further solidifies my stance that the only reason marijuana isn't legal is because it's too easy to grow and too hard for the government to tax.

Where does it stop, there is enough bad things that are legal. Alcohol for instance, we could start there. Just think of cancer and liver disease attributed to alcohol, then add in family stress, divorce etc... Certain foods, McDonalds etc.... we already see the war on fast foods.

Slippery slope!

I concur!

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

10 million people either step on stickers or broken glass and hurt their feet every day. I think the Gov't should make a law requiring everyone wear shoes all the time!. Yep if they can make up statistics I can too. Why do so many want Uncle Nanny to tell, them what they shouldn't do? Why erode even more on FREEDOM? slap Let the laws of natural selection kill off the people dumb enough to accept bad habits.

My libertarian mind tells me that the government has no business telling people what they can eat, drink, smoke or rub on their feet, as long as my taxes don't pay for it or the results of their actions.

I've smoked, cigars and cigarettes. Stopped and started many times, quit for 20 years, started again four years ago, quit for good three years ago. I've been going through hell lately; even so I'm not going to take it up again. But I LOVED smoking tobacco. Some people have addictions to things in varying degrees. I smoked pot in college, a lot, 40 years ago. Never led me to anything else, no coke, no LSD, nothing. But that's just me. Everybody is just a tad different in how they respond to chemicals. I think there is a war on tobacco by the various cancer and health agencies. and on the other hand, we're paying subsidies for tobacco. Things are complex, are they not?

Yep. Last part is the problem. We're too compassionate to "not" help people once they falter. Then they use that to curtail our liberties.

Any long term problems with weed use will get covered by the government. That's just another problem.
