My advice: Drive thru during any gun hunt in any area you think you want to hunt. Map where all the trucks are parked.

NOW, when you go to hunt next time, go as far away from where any of those trucks parked!

Also, any place there is a parking spot (i.e., gated roads etc) if you want to hunt that area you better be there 3 hours before sunrise.

Last year I had spots picked out during the week (since I can hunt any day of the week). The first gun weekend I went, there was a truck in every god dang one of those spots AND a truck in every single parking place you could find. I was royally pissed off that day.
On the flip side of that ordeal, I was forced to go places no one ever parked..and that's where I saw deer..haha

Link above has a pretty good video in the first post by Reno. I know his access method is unconventional but even beyond that I thought there was some good stuff.

Constantly scout and always have several spots to hunt Incase your first is not available.

I have been hunting public land off and on the last 4 seasons and the first three years I hunted all over. I finally realized it is more productive to pick an area and stay in there instead of skipping around. I hunt by myself on public ground, I believe it would be more productive to have a good friend hunt an different area and learn two different areas at once. Thus, a deer dragging buddy never hurts on public. A good friend would be key but must trust each other and tell each other correct info. What do yall perfer hunt by yourself or a buddy system? And if you do buddy system how does it work for you? Thanks in advance.

Ive one or two guys I hunt public land with. the are older and have been hunting here on Ft Bragg for years and are some sure enough deer killers. It makes it fun even if we don't see or kill anything. We've always got a good story to tell afterwards.

You think like me lol. Wanna be hunting buddies?! Lol. I like hunting with a buddy. It’s safer, makes dragging easier, keeps me motivated and get more scouting done. I am in a club and I bring people and use them as my eyes and ears in a secondary spot. What public do you hunt?

I usually fly solo. Would prefer a hunting partner but don’t have many friends that want to go hunt public ground.

I prefer to go solo. I don't mind hunting with a buddy from time to time, but I cannot do it unless the friend hunts the way I do and has the same philosophies.

I need hunting buddies like the hunting public guys. They help each other and celebrate the others success.

I hunt wma with both ways with my brother and/or my dad and by myself. I use to hunt with WMA with a group of buddies then one wouldn't ever make a good shot I know personally that he shot 2 nice bucks while he hunted with us. One was a breast area shot all we found was fat and white hair on the ground and very little blood the other was a similar shot. After hen shoots he starts trying to look for us becasuenit can't track a deer which ruins our hunt. Neither bucks was found that he shot at then one day in the truck he said something about shooting at "shadows" in the woods or into brush wear he thoughtbsounded like a deer. He almost got left on the side of the road that day the rest of us 3 other guys decided he would never hunt another day with us becausewe deemed him an idiot and unsafe to hunt with. As far as I know he hunts with his brother in law now and if i see his truck driving in I'll go as far away from him as possible.

WMA's have public parking areas. Look for a small connecting private ownership. Get permission to park there while hunting wma. WFM
