I have plenty of times and know many others who do. That’s how I shot my first deer.

I have done it. It really depends on the lay of the land and the trees available. I used to hunt a place with a spot that I loved. it was up on top of a little ridge above a creek. the ridge on this side was a good bit higher than the land on the other side which was a gently sloping hill. I had a big fat tree to sit on so I could hide my outline and be comfy. I shot a lot of deer off of that tree.

I sometimes sit in a camp chair. I fold it up and tie a rope on it and it's a lot lighter than a stand.

I try to find a good spot to set up though. You want to be half way in a tree top or in a small cluster of trees. You don't want to just be sitting out in the open.

Ive killed alot of deer from the ground. I have a mellinium tree seat and i could fall asleep in that thing. I like it on steep inclined terrain or in hardwoods that you can see a good way from the ground.

I haven't seen a deer sitting on the ground since the early 90's

I like hunting from blinds, stands, boxes, but for some reason, hunting from the ground just seems special. Killed by first deer and my first buck sitting on the ground. Also, it does depend a lot upon the terrain you gonna hunt.

X100
If you are hunting the side of a big hardwood hill that's fairly clean, you might as well sit at the top of the hill on the ground. If you were hunting thick stuff down by a creek,in a tree would be much better.

My favorite way to hunt is on a ridge looking down at a bottom. I always just sit behind a tree big enough to break me up. Have always had great luck in places I do this. Be prepared for the deer to show up where you least expect it. I have had ten yard stare downs with mature does and bucks from a cheap bag chair from academy.

I usually leave the climber in the truck during gun hunts. Was out today, sitting on the ground well hidden. Had a 4 pt come out 145 yds from me on side of next ridge.
I stood up, could done backflips and he would've been none the wiser lol

I usually ground sit since I'm in areas I've never been in so carrying all the extra weight when I'm not sure where I'm going isn't happening..Too worn out for all that

I carried a folding chair and my limb lopers today to the edge of a corn field with privet around the edge. I just cut a little hole and used the limbs to make a blind. I needed a stabelizing stick, but didn't have one, should have cut another limb and made one I guess.

I bought these compact loppers for ground hunting. I have some good clippers but they just weren't enough when I hunted from the ground last week.

I always carry my homemade shooting sticks, like these. The only addition i do is to use a piece of 3/8 gas line over the end for rubber non slip padding against my rifle, and I wrap the rest in black electrical take so they can't ever make any noise by clicking together.

I really enjoy hunting from the ground, wether slowly slipping through a bottom area or posted up on a ridge. I’ve killed and seen enough deer that way to really enjoy it. It’s more work than sitting in a shooting house overlooking a green field but I personally get more reward from a buck taken stalking. YMMV

Hammock Seat by Fanatic Outdoors, it’s as comfy as a Summit viper. I love using it when hunting ridges and hollers. It straps around the tree, and can be used on trees that are small to large. Paired with a shooting stick like Primos’ trigger stick it is a hard to beat combo!
