Proverbs 16:9
Man may plan his course, but the Lord determines his steps.

What an awesome day, and what an awesome way God speaks to us. Tatum and I have hunted for 3 years looking to get him his first buck! We have traveled far and wide, having few close encounters but nothing to show for the efforts! We changed it up this year a bit, getting into a good 4 1/2 year old or better club. I knew it would be hard to pass up a decent 2 or 3 year old for his first one. Not having much success up to this point, we knew it was a matter of time before we started seeing deer. Last week it was all I could do to tell him not to shoot a small 5 point! He was frustrated and I felt bad telling him he was to small. Fast fwd to last night. I had in my heart a spot where we were getting a lot of buck pics, but all at night. There was a really good 8 in there. I knew it is where I wanted to go. Well I pinned the number and Tatum three a fit wanting to go where he saw the 5 point. I argued with him until he was in tears, and finally said ok just pick where you wanna go. He pegged the same spot as last week. I knew it was a mistake but he said it was his gut.
This morning came and we got settled in, and honestly I was not expecting much. I kept saying last night someone gonna go to the spot I wanted and kill straight 8. He did not care, and was persistent. After 30 min the Holy Spirit prompted me to pray. We said a good prayer for everyone and also let us just have fun and hear his voice! About 20 min later that same 5 came out and Tatum started getting antsy to pull the trigger. I told him no again and he cut me off, saying dad there is an 8. “Last week he said an 8 also and it turned out to be nothing” I said Tatum you seeing things again, then I seen his head pop up. I knew he was a lot better deer. Right then we got in buck fever mode. Only issue was they were 300 yards and just content. We watched them for 40 min hooking and walking ever so closer. I ranged a spot on the hill at 256 and said Tatum if he gets there I’ll let you try. I just switched him to hornady sst and sighted dead on at 100 so I knew it was good. I was worried it being to far for him, but he told me he could make it. Well he worked his way right to that spot and we settled in for a sniper shot. Tatum said he was on him and good, so I said whenever you ready squeeze.
In that instant the deer dropped in his tracks and we began to look at each other in shock. It is that emotion you can not explain. Years of trying, miles of walking and scouting all leading up to this moment. The moment in life that God has been planning for years. Perfectly designed for the time when we needed it. A lesson that I will never ever forget. That I can make all the plans I want, but when he speaks through a 7 year old I need to listen. My son knew days prior that was his spot and that he was gonna see deer. He had the confidence to make the shot and the FAITH that it was his time. I can not put into words the Nature of God and how he uses things to speak to us! I can only sit here and try to describe it. I am so proud to be Tatums dad and the maturity displayed through the entire hunt. The deer ended up being 10 points, 230lbs and the shot was 256 yards. Thinking he is 5-6 y/o but will find out soon.
God is forever good! We are blessed and I am humbled to sit here and see him work. He is amazing, seeing it all become on his timing and his course is beyond spiritual. All glory be to him!!!!

The gun is pointing almost to the exact spot where he was on the far hill.
The crazy thing is I took that picture last week just randomly, not knowing that the barrel is literally pointing almost exactly where that deer stood.
Only shooter that has been seen all season.

If you zoom in and look you can see the house on far hill. Where he is laying is where he dropped. I honestly questioned it but, my son said I can do it. Them sst 95 grain put a good hole in him also
