Keep in mind that up until a couple days ago we really didn't have any killing frost. There is a tremendous amount of browse still alive in the woods. I've got honeysuckle and greenbrier that's still doing well.
The deer are not having to travel far to eat. The luck I've had on plots are ones where a good trail crosses them. They are traveling and stop to nibble from point a to b No doubt I hunted this weekend and saw maybe 35-40 deer on a power line that has about 450 yards of wheat planted on it. I only had a handful of deer actually stay and eat for 10-15 minutes and later in the year almost all will do this the woods are still full of browse for them not to mention the bumper acorn crop.

@ centralala. we are SE. Never had any issues with plots over the years on our old lease. I was beginning to think that our biggest issue was a low deer density even though our cams are saying different but after Monday morning I really do think they are just on the acorns right now. I hunted a big hardwood ridge and saw 17 different deer..... I am worried that the lack of use is going to ruin the plots though. We planted mid to late September.
