Good evening---

With bow season around the corner, is it legal in AL to carry a long gun while bow hunting to reach out and tap some of those pigs?

Just curious as i want to kill as many pigs as possible, but do not want to get in trouble by carrying a long gun during bow season.

Thanks

I'm no expert but I think either sex gun deer season has to be in for you to legally carry both.

Call the DCNR tomorrow, ask for the Law Enforcement Section, and get it straight from them: 334-242-3465

I'm gonna venture out and say no. But who really knows. I'm carrying my 10mm and shooting every pig I see.

Don't we have a couple wardens on this site? Why don't they ever chime in on such simple subjects? I understand not debating every little rule but it'd be nice if one could speak up on such simple matters.

You also could scan through the 2016-17 regulations on the DCNR website to see if there's anything in them before calling:

http://www.outdooralabama.com/sites/default/files/2016-2017%20REG%20BOOK%20FINAL%20COPY.pdf

Calling would be the fastest and most reliable way, though.

Won't do no good, it's best to call your local GW grin

This is your safest, most logical route.

I just shoot them with the bow. I had somebody ask me if they could take bow and gun if they came hunting with me. I laughed said no.

you can carry a handgun, but no long gun.

The same reason that the local biologist don't chime in any more.....because everyone wants to argue with them because they think they know more than the professionals do.

This one is simple. It's yes, or no.

Fortunately we don't have hogs that I have seen,,I will carry a pistol
But I don't want any part of a discussion with e GW as to why I
have a riffle and a bow,,,,,looks like that would be a short one sided chat

I appreciate everyone's response and comments. Based on 220-2-10, I will not carry rifle and bow at same time.
Will probably hunt deer in am with bow and pigs in the afternoon with long gun.
That should not cause me any trouble.
Against, I appreciate everyone's help.

I would say no. You can carry a pistol though.
