I'd like to know how many people applied to each hunt to see what the odds were. And how many alternates there were lol.

Well 72 hours is up, wonder when they will tell us if we got a spot or didn't.

This, I’m thinking there could have possibly been some politics if you will, involved. Or maybe a lot more people got the word of it than I thought. Either way would like to see a number of registered vs selected.

Well a guy in another thread said he declined a hunt I am an alternate for a couple days ago but I have not seen a change in my alternate status

I was not chosen for any of them.

I was emailed today saying my status changed from alternate to hunter for the turkey hunt in Russell County.

I heard over 20,000 applied for hunts. Wow. With that many applicants i cant figure out how so many got drawn multiple times.

Anyone here an alternate for Stimpson on October 27th? Looks like I was promoted to hunter but may not be able to go.

I was picked for a hunt in Dallas County and logged in and accepted. However, I have not received an email or any type of conformation from the State?

I applied for all the hunts and was marked as an alternate on most. Got an email to select the one hunt I wanted to be an alternate for and selected the Fred T. Stimpson Youth hunt on 1/5/2018. Last night I got an email saying that 10 hunters were promoted to this hunt for this date. Not sure what happened but there must have been a number of hunters that could not go. Hang in there as there appears to still be a chance to get selected.

Squatting Bear, I was promoted to hunter(son) for that same hunt last night. Now I just wish I knew something about that area.

Anybody hunted the Dallas county SOA site yet?

I have been promoted to the youth hunt on Nov 11 and 12 at the Stimpson SOA... anyone else going to be there at that time with their youths?

I think Chuck Sykes got drawn as the hunter for that area and everyone else got drawn as an alternate.

IMO, the hunters should only have a few days to decline! as soon as they decline an auto draw should let an alternate know in just a few minutes that they have been accepted.

My son and I will be there for that hunt. We are assigned to Zone 1.

I'm Zone 14 for the Jan 5th youth hunt. If anyone gets a chance to hunt that unit in the earlier hunt, I would love to chat. My son is super excited about the chance to hunt.

Can't wait for later on when they post about how many people who were picked didn't show up so no one got to use their alternate status.

They should have made it clear!! If you get selected and don't go, you MUST inform them at least 1 week before the hunt otherwise you should be fined and never allowed to register again..

For those that were confused about statuses you need to read the FAQ section on the website;

Hunter = you have been selected for a limited quota permit. You must accept your hunter status to receive your limited quota permit.

Alternate = you have placed as an alternate for a limited quota permit. You will be notified by email if your alternate status changes to hunter, should selected hunters decline their permit selection.

Not Selected = you have not been selected as a hunter or alternate.

You are only allowed to accept 1 limited quota permit “hunter” or “alternate” status. Once you accept your hunter or alternate status all other selections are automatically declined/grayed out. Unfortunately, the selection cannot be changed once you accept a status, as this is a computer generate process for allocation and selections.
