Looks like he and Woodfin heading for a runoff with Woodfin actually pulling in more votes. Not that I ever doubted Bell's recent actions over the monuments being anything more than political grandstanding, but it appears he must have known he was trailing and needed a boost. I wonder what other stunt he'll pull before the runoff.

He's trying to shut down growth because it's damaging to his voter base. He has actually formed a committee to stop gentrification. Truly unbelievable. They'd rather keep Birmingham stagnant and violent, not to mention poor.

They'd rather keep Birmingham stagnant and violent, not to mention poor. All the best cities are run by democrats. The good news for Birmingham is they either get 1) William Bell – corrupt democrat (oxymoron) or 2) limp wristed progressive. Glad I live in Arab.

Bell has become a joke. He actually has a small security detail that goes with him almost everywhere. Heck even Larry wasnt that over the top when he was there. He's trying to shut down growth because it's damaging to his voter base. He has actually formed a committee to stop gentrification. Truly unbelievable. They'd rather keep Birmingham stagnant and violent, not to mention poor. Topic the other day on talk radio was the up and coming entertainment districts and black concern of how the white people were now forcing blacks out of the communities. Said that now that the communities were being restored and property prices were increasing it was making it where blacks couldnt afford to move into those areas. Heck 10 yrs ago they were complaining about "white flight" and the waste land it was leaving behind. Whitey done moved out and took his $ with him and they couldnt afford to keep up and improve the areas and property prices nose dived. They cant make up their mind. Regardless of what we do its our fault.

It's Birmingham who gives a schit? Pretty much anybody in the state should give a shucks, especially those of us a stones throw away. That's about as ignorant an attitude as the ones held by the dems who keep voting for corrupt leadership.

If so, you know nothing about him. I have known him for years and he is far from being a limp wristed anything. He left the city attorney's office and ran for mayor to clean up the corruption he witnessed first hand working for the city. He is very smart. I expect good things to come out of his administration if he is elected.

But, on policy yeah I’m going to call him a progressive. His own website did say “he is a sign of the progressive movement in the south,” followed up by policies that are progressive. He is also heavily endorsed by “Our Revolution” who fights for things such as 1) free tuition, 2) Increasing minimum wage to unsustainable levels, 3) expanding DAPA and DACA, 4) Medicare for all, 5) mandatory paid maternity leave, 6) more power to unionize workforces, etc. So yeah, everything about him tells me he is a progressive.

I mean "limp wristed" as a term to describe your average run of the mill progressive.
