Cause it sure isn't a gulp 4" swim jig in shad color. Threw right in them, past them, under them and over them when they were blowing up on shad yesterday morning at daylight and never got a stripe bite.

I am going to try again as soon as the weather permits. If it's during the week it will be an hour or so around sunset, if on the weekend it will be an hour or so around daylight.

I like to Troll between the lock and the damn with a deep diving crankbait in shad color(Shad Raps) and 1/4 oz roster tail tied to leader on a 3 way barrel swivel above it. You catch em two at a time sometimes. My wife caught a 5 pound spot their a few years back on the shad rap.

That's my kind of fishing right there. No mess, no muss. Tempted to go this evening but it's hotter'en two hells here. I may go if someone else wants to.

Are we talking stripe as in white/sand bass (the little ones) or Stripers/Rockfish as in the big ones?

If white bass I use a 5 wire Alabama rig with the spinners and small white grubs at the end. If they are biting you get at least 1 every cast and 2 every other.

Ok got it - Stripers want live shad this time of year in my experience. If they are really boiling at daybreak most shad sized silver/chartreuse top waters work if you cast directly on them.
