I have a bunch of leftover test plot seed that a buddy gave me and we were wanting to do corn in our plots this weekend.. I know it's late but can it still produce a small ear bearing some corn for later on in the deer season, or will frost get it by then? We have Dyna-Gro D58VC65 round up ready corn.

I'm no corn expert but your location says Huntsville and i'm guessing your first frost is probably late October, so unless you have 60 day corn, its probably too late.

It's not Sahara dry as much as you're gonna lose heat units and run out of time. Silage maybe. For grain no

I watched a fellow plant several acres about this time last year. I said I thought is was too late, he said it would be fine. It stalled at 3'-4' and make no ears. Then he said he planted it for cover. Did it work. IDK.

I would say that is about right. I plant corn here at the house in May-June because the area is to wet to plant any earlier. It just started tasseling this week so another 2-3 weeks or so before the ears are filled out. If you planted it now no way it will make ears by end of September at which time the temps especially at night are going to getting to cool for it to grow much more.
