Very new to trapping and I am looking to buy some foothold traps in about a month. Is a MB-550 or Bridger #2 the right size or would I need a larger trap like a #3 or Mb-650? Just looking to trap yotes, fox and bobcats. Any help is appreciated.

Alabama law says up to 6" inside jaw spread is legal. I run #3 sized traps or whatever I can get as close to that max jaw spread.

Thanks for the help. Also would a 4 coil trap be overkill or do you recommend a 4 coil for the jaw speed?

4 coil is overkill on some traps but if you aren't planning to sale furs then why worry about overkill. If 4 coils make a trap faster then I'm all for it.
